Wow.... what a transformation for those navy shoes. Amazing (and courageous) work! Thank you for sharing your project with us!
Very smart of you and courageous too! You have done an excellent job and so much prettier than the navy. A very unique pair you have now!
How did you attach the fabric to the soles?
I took a Sashiko thread and needle and made the stitches so similar to the original that I could
queenofhearts-The Sashiko thread anitapatch mentions, is most likely like a buttonhole twist thread that we have in the states or maybe an outdoor type thread. I looked closely and it looks like she caught the jute braid, or whatever you call the trim around the sole, with her stitching very nicely.
Thak you. I suppose if you left a small margin of the original fabric you could sew the new fabric to that. This is a very ambitious undertaking with great results.
What a clever idea and ambitious undertaking--I like yours better than the original.
Awesome, now you can have the matching shoes for every outfit. Great idea.
Super idea, even in Spain (60km) i never see so nice "espadrilles" (name of this spanish shoes). Thank you for sharing. Amitiés de France.
