Sadly we said good-bye to my dear little boy this evening. He was the apple of my eye and brought me so much love and joy. My heart is broken, he was my baby for 14 years, but I know his angel wings took him straight up to doggie heaven.

I bottle-fed him since birth and he was really my baby up until his last breath in my arms. He had been ill since October and I took care of him day and nite for the past 7 months. I knew he would never be 100%. We had good days and more bad days, but I was determined to "love" him alive. Over the last month he deteriorated and his lungs began to fill up and he coughed continuously. He was born with a heart murmur and his heart was straining. I could no longer watch him suffer, but I couldn't let him go either. It tore my heart out to finally make the decision to let him go gently, for both our sakes... I have to believe this!
Farewell and RIP my Tikkie, my Handsome boy...Mommy's love. xxx

My heart goes out to you. I have had to put 3 of our pets down, and the heartbreak is beyond description. I feel your pain and pray that a new fuzzy love out there will warm your heart in the future. Your doggie had the most adorable little face. Rest in peace dear Tikkie. Debswebster please know that you in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you.

Yes, I can relate...I had a brood of 5, all Maltese and he was the last to go, and my most precious love of all. I got a new little girl Tessa 3 years ago who has only known him..and she is lost without him now. Now she will be queen of the house.

So sorry. I lost my boy 1 and 1/2 years ago and still miss him so. We have two other dogs but its just not to same. I plan on getting another dog when my grand daughter is a little older (3 1/2 is not the best age for a small sized dog.) Best wishes for a brighter day. :)

I have another little (bigger) girl who turned 3yrs in March. My dear friend gave her to me for the purpose of being Tikkie's eyes, she would also bark loudly to tell him when it was toilet time as he was partially deaf. They were a good team. She is in mourning too and hiding under the bed, so sad isn't it? I am blessed to have her.

I am so happy to hear that you have another animal to pour your love and broken heart into......one of our cats grieved for several weeks after the loss of her big brother......your girl will pull out of it with your patience and love........

Oh dear, this is so sad. I can understand your decision. Had to do this for one of our cats - will never forget - but he suffered so much in the end; had cancer on his nose and he scratched there with his claws and did not know why this gave him more pain and so finally it was heart-
breaking when he cried and we took him to the vet to release him from the struggle...
Now your sweet little doggie is at rest and has no more pain. You will always keep him treasured in your memories and heart - 14 years he was your dear mate and you never will forget him. Take care - thinking of you - Maria

Same thing with my daughter's Siamese cat - he also had cancer on his nose.....same outcome too. His name was Winston, he had one blue eye and one green!

grossfamilie by grossfamilie 11 May 2015

Thank you for your reply. Winston was very special then considering two different eye colours. When the nose cancer happened to our little "Tomi" the whole family was so sad and upset - imagining the cat is completely covered with fur - only the nose is not protected and here the cancer hit him. Probably you were thinking about that too

I can empathize with you, Dear. Our 80 lb "baby" died 2 years ago. We have her toys etc. displayed and still miss her. But we have wonderful memories and some day you will get pleasure from your wonderful memories. God bless. Suz

Today I washed his jacket, blanket and pillowcase for the last time; threw away all his medication and feeding syringes, put away his food bowl and wept. I certainly have wonderful memories!!

I can also feel you pain. It is not easy to say goodbye to a dear friend. 'cos that's what our pets are, true dear friends forever. Comfort yourself a bit that he 's not suffering anymore and remember all the times you had together. Hugs send.

I am so very sorry. The pain of loosing our pets is overbearing. Your little dog was very lucky to have you. My little Pekingese is not too well either and at 15 years I am wondering when I am going to have to make the decision. Hugs Sarah

I missed him so much today. We had a routine that I am lost without. Fed him 3 times a day and had to carry him out to toilet as he was totally blind and deaf too.

Tikki is certainly your furbaby and always will be. I'm so sorry you had to say good bye to him, but he will always be in your heart and mind. . Remember the years of memories and let them bring a smile to that sad mouth. You are not alone, but have all of the Cuties grieving with you for a beloved family member.

As Crafter has said our furbabies are our part of our families and its very hard to say goodbye. Keep the good memories that you have of Tikkie and remember that what you chose at the end was to save more suffering for him. This is very tough though. My thoughts are with you
