Brought this back to the top for joycross who was asking about hat hoops.
Hi great video ,but could you give measurements for how big to cut the square and also how high up
Thanks
I don't remember where I saw it but the cutout was 4 1/2 " square and it was placed 3 1/2 " from the top of the board.
I actually clipped a hat onto it and determined where to put the cut- out from there and mine is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" but that would be determined by the size of your hoop.
Thanks jrob for sharing this method and your projects with us. And thanks more for sharing your granddaughter's sweet smile with us!
I was so intrigued by this that I searched and found this video. I don't understand the language but the demonstration is so good that you don't need to understand what she is saying. I hope this answers all the questions posted below. I feel like I could make this based on what I saw in the video.
Thanks Queen! This video made the light bulb go off! I couldn't imagine how to hold the new "Cap Hoop" on my machine. This simply replaces the inner hoop, and snugs up. Yup.... gonna try this!
Cute smile!! How in the world does this fit in HOOP??? I guess I need to try to find a video on YouTube??? Anything that works and I can save $$$$$. I love learning all this stuff and all these projects I've never seen.
Great end result. I'm not understanding how exactly it works, though. Can you show us a photo of the hat clipped onto this, and then, how you hoop it to your machine? I am not from the 'show me state' but I do need for you to show me.-lol
The clipboard replaced your inner hoop. The bill of the cap goes into the clip on the board.
Terrific idea..and so much savings. You did a great job and so did your DH. Mine is good at that sort of thing also--he has a workshop with all the tools. I must search for the video--would someone please share the link?
Did you and your DH have a tutorial that gave you instructions on how to make this hat hoop? I have seen the website that sells them for $27.00 but a clipboard would be cheaper .Does this fit a 5x7 hoop or is yours larger?
Adorable granddaughter, love the smile. Nice job on the hat.
Looks like your joint efforts will be enjoyed by the family who are all going to need their own hats
A lovely cap, and a nice job by your better half. I think you'll have your work cut out when your grands see this.
please tell me where to see the video on how to make this thanks
Now Grandmother you know they are all going to have to have a monogrammed cap, just like yours. Gonna have to slow my SIL down long enough to see if he can make one for me. I love it that you can do this like this/Lillian
Such a sweetie! Thanks for posting a picture of your hat hoop...I have watched the video and will be picking up a clip board this week-end...
Great looking cap. Please let us see your homemade hoop. :)
Fantastic, Jerrilyn.....that homemade hoop saved you tons......I bought one for my Bernina years ago and it was an arm & a leg........
What a great job. would love to see your home made hoop.
Very nice work. Would you mind sharing your home made hat hoop with me too.
You did a Terrific job. I am intrigued by the clipboard cut out as well & may try it ~hugs~
Very cute, and my son's initials, although he would prefer a block letter and something other than pink! I think you got it as smooth as any hat hoop would.
Well, how about that? I'll remember he doesn't like pink and try another color next time. :)
Excellent work!
I should send you my hat. Do you have a turn around time? ;)
