Well Cuties, time for an update regarding our flooded basement disaster. For the last 2 months we have had workers and people here everyday except on Sundays. Sometimes just one, sometimes as many as 5. They come any time...usually between 7 or 8 in the morning .note; We usually do not get up at 5-6 am. :-(

The days have been very full; the restoration company did everything...packing all our "stuff" (books, furniture ,china, pantry, and FABRIC! ),ripping up flooring, gutting basement bathroom, ripping out soaked drywall and insulation, then dry walling and painting . Movers came to pack most of our belongings with the exception of pantry goods, fabric that I rescued earlier, and my machines. Then the plumbers came along with the excavator guy (new water line ) , and the flooring people. Whew! We finally got our "stuff" back and then came the unpacking.....after the first day we decided we would rather do it ourselves. It is a huge job and by no means over. The shelving is different and doesn't seem to hold as much, some things were not packed well, ( example; a mirror was under an iron ) hence some breakage, and some things were not put where we would have liked. Whoever packed my sewing room obviously did not care for sewing or fabric...enough said. Our downstairs bathroom is all new ( nice! ) and we are very pleased with the results. The last step was duct cleaning the furnace ducts and the furnace and air checked. Well.. a screw was found through our air coil and now that has to be fixed. The driveway is still dug up...they should start on that soon and once the cement is poured we can't drive on it for a month! Then my DH gets a call from his Dr. saying that tests had come back and that he should see the specialist again...??
He has just gone for more tests as I write. The icing on the cake...or last straw if you will, is that now our "fur baby" will not eat! She just eats a bit out of hand and drinks lots of water. I have a call in to the vet and am waiting for a call back. The stress seems unending as does the cash flow! Thank goodness the insurance picked up most of the inside work!
I am not sure when I will be able to actually use a machine again...:-( I am hopeful. I really just want my husband to be OK ,the same for our pooch, and to have our lives back. Neither one of us sleeps well (each not wanting the other to know ) ...Well that about covers it. I try to visit every day I can and I am sorry if I haven't been very vocal. ( Birthday wishes, commenting on all the lovely projects etc. ) Thanks for reading my "rant".
Love & Hugs to all, Nadyne

You have been through so very much. I am praying that God places you in the palm of His Hands. One to hold you and yours to strengthen and support you and the other to place over you to protect you and those you love. R

You have been through so much. I know what it is like with water damage as our house was was also terribly damaged by storm water a few years ago. Our whole ground floor was under water. I do so hope that your husband and your little dog are on the road to recovery. There are some wonderful people here, so rant as much as you need. Hugs Sarah

Nadyne Go . Bless you. If anyone ever had a right to complain you definitely do. I cannot imagine what I would do in your situation. They would probably have to put me in a straight jacket and commit me. You are in my prayers/Lillian

I'm so tired just from reading this that I may call it a day and go to bed early! I'm remembering that old poster - when you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on! God bless. Sounds like the end is in sight on the repairs.

I think you have every right to rant. What an interesting time you have had with all of the de-construction and the reconstruction and now the restoration. Phew is right! You have my sympathy with the packers. My last move, one of my machines spent the trip on its flywheel side. Yikes! I do hope (and pray) both your hubby and your pooch are OK. Keep us informed with the progress of the restoration and their health.

Oh, Nadyne, everyone understands all that you have been through. Take care of yourself and that darling husband, oh and the pooch, too. Just do a bit at time that you can and don't worry about the rest. I hope you have recourse about the mispacked items. Everyone should know you don't put bread under the eggs! :) Hugs to you, too.
