I have a UPS ( Uninterruptible Power Supply ) that my sewing machine is plugged into. Today it decided to misbehave in the middle of one of my stitchouts. The battery died! My machine 'sang' to me; and promptly shut itself off. When I restarted, I had lost the design I had created by combining a design with words and was totally flummoxed by this. I had saved it before I started stitching. My USB stick was empty. I started the machine, attempted to recreate the design and took a chance on being able to stitch the item out since I had not unhooped it. Low and behold I was able to complete the design and no one will be able to tell. I was so please. Has this happened to anyone else?

Bummer! Glad to hear things turned out well for you. I've got a machine that after being switched off and then back on again will ask if you want to resume./Lillian

I was really grateful this one worked. I've had my share of 'un-save-ables'. I'm so glad you have a magic machine with this feature. Someday... thanks for stopping by.

YES this has happened to me not only once but twice and of all things with my new Brother Dream Machine. Since she is under warranty I talked to the dealer about it and was told to download a update and now I hope it will not happen again. I was lucky that it was not a design that I had manipulated in any way so I could find my place and continue. I do not know what machine you were using.

My machine is a Brother 1250D. Don't think or know if it has the ability to be upgraded. New battery helped. My hoop and the design size were 4x4. Thanks for commenting. Hope the upgrade does the trick for you. :)

Leaha, you should ask your service fellow to make sure it is up to date with all its upgrades next time you take it in.
Any machine that can be connected to a computer, one way or the other is usually upgradable.

I'm so glad you were able to finish a perfect stitch out. This was scary that even with a backup system it can fail.

Thanks, guess you are right but it was the last thing I expected. I wonder if I get a back up for the backup....lol

Pheeew....glad it worked out! My machine (BabyLock Ellisimo) will always ask me if I want to resume the last job if it is turned off for any reason...

Utter magic! I only have 4x4 and stay pretty well in the middle. I was amazed and very pleased.

Is it a Brother machine.G

asterixsew by asterixsew edited 30 May 2015

Yes a PR650

ethan by ethan 30 May 2015

I see Sue's machine also does this, My Brother is on a test as I can't sew or embroider for at least another three weeks. I had four ITH needle books on the go. one of then has the last page crumpled on the back of the frame. I need to rip fix page and sew last bar again. G

Another question Asterisew, does your machine have a camera for getting designs lined up?.

Leaha by Leaha 30 May 2015

Ohhhh, you have one of the magic machines also. Good for you! Someday...

I haven't lost power, but my machine decided it didn't want to play any more but luckily it was at a new colour change spot so when it was fixed I could resume and fingers crossed it's doing well now.. So glad you were able to resume your design.. Mari

Thank you, Mari. we have power fluctuations a lot that's why I have the UPS; if I am in the middle of something it allows me the time to get to a stopping point, make notes and shut the machine down. This time it didn't, it was just a hard crash. I was terrified I had broken my machine. Thanks for stopping by.

Oh my gosh, for a moment I was worried about the outcome of this tale. Just as well you kept calm and carried on. Thank goodness it all turned out so well for you.

I have done well and not well. Once It shifted and once I forgot I had shifted the design and woa - it was not pretty. So glad your turned out well! Yeah!

I can't remember to shift the designs, so I pretty much stay in the middle of the frame. Then after I'm done I chastise myself for wasting fabric and stabilizer. Thank you, me too.

Phew - you were so lucky. Sorry that I cannot help you with your query. It will probably be one of these things that you will never know what happened. Sarah

You are so very right, Sarah. I was horrified when it died, same way I've had a computer crash. One minute it's fine and the next it's dead. Thanks for stopping by.

That was a stroke of luck. After being switched off, my machine asks me if I want to resume the last design. It amazes me that it knows exactly where it was up to!

What a fantastic feature Sue.

marianb by marianb 30 May 2015

This is a feature that will definitely be on my next machine..

Leaha by Leaha 30 May 2015

Must be MAGIC. I would love that feature! It only worked because of the 4x4 design and frame. I can't do to many manipulations with the Brother 1250. I thought I would try as it was ruined either way...
