Hi Cuties , I am also getting these, but I don't have a google or gmail account, so I am marking them as spam as they come through at the moment as I don't know how to unsubscribe to these either
big hugs from London - mooie xx
Just curious, have you gone to Google email and tried to log in? Maybe say you forgot your password? See if you have an account that you don't remember or don't know about?
I have clicked the unsubscribe on a few occasions and it seems to work for the current name - however it pops up again months later.
sewmom--I finally did as you suggested--went to the groups page, unchecked all, and sure enough, there I was in the cuteembroidery7 group. So I ''left'' that group. Should take care of that one, and hoping they had not shared my info just yet. Thank you for "insisting" I do this--sometimes I can be stubborn about taking advice. Thx again.
awesome, just treat them as junk mail. I received heaps of emails a few years back asking me to be friends with people on facebook. Neither I nor the persons listed as asking to be my friend were on facebook. Don't know how the perpetrator found our names or my email address. I had contacted my friends via phone and their email addresses and none had done anything. I think this is just one of the things we have to be careful of in this day of computer usage.
I added more important information to my comment below.
I hope your info will help others who have received the unwanted mails. Unfortunately, it has no relevance for me as I don't belong to ANY "groups--Google or Yahoo. I do have a Google email address, but it sits idle--almost never, ever used and then only by me. I do not share it with any of my friends.
Maybe more information will be forthcoming if they do indeed send me email. But if it has to be 'linked', then I still won't be any smarter, as I will delete.
awesome1, have you removed yourself from the group and tried my link to set your group settings? You have settings whether or not you have used the groups. If you don't change them you are likely to get added to more groups. Deleting the email notice that says they put you in the group does not remove you from the group itself.
Thank you for letting us know about this. We can all be on the lookout for such.
There is a way to set your Google Group settings so that group owners can not automatically add you without your permission. Same thing happened to me 3 or 4 times. I went to the group and removed myself then went to the help section to ask how to change my settings. Sorry I don't remember how to change them but I can assure you that's your problem.
I did not click on any links in the emails. I went to Google Groups From my Google page.
Thank you for offering this advice, but I DO NOT belong to any Google groups-nor Facebook, nor any of the social media...so I have no idea where they got my addy..
I'm not sure who is doing it but I think that person has used email lists to add people. All you need is a Google email to be added to these groups I believe. They might also join other groups and take email addresses from them but as you say, that wouldn't be your case.Do you belong to a Yahoo group? Because it's possible they got emails from those groups too.
I found the answer that the Google help person gave me.
Just go to your group setting page https://groups.google.com/forum/#... and uncheck the boxes and click save
If you are logged in to your Google account and click the link I just gave you, it will take you directly to the page to uncheck the boxes.
Again, I do not belong to any Google groups (unless this site is one),,I do not belong to any Yahoo groups--in fact I dislike Yahoo very much--they now own my internet provider. No social media--no Twitter, no Facebook, etc. I'm a very dull person!
When I get those types I just click Report Spam. Don't even bother to look at it.
It sounds suspicious to me too. Like you, I would rather be safe than sorry.
