Thanks for the encouragement to do whatever to go see my grandson graduate. And we made it back alive! lol! I arrived just as everyone was getting into the Expedition to go to the graduation ceremony. Tired as the dickens I was swept off to the ceremony (I felt bad because they waited for me) in what I had on and we didn't really get very good seats because of me. But, no one complained or said anything...1200 miles of driving had me a wee bit on the tired side and I don't think I would have heard them anyway. The ceremony was nice. I am glad I went even though the heat was unbearable in the auditorium. My grandson learned from the rehearsal that it was going to be hot...but he didn't tell anyone...but smartee pants wore shorts under his cap and gown. As did many of the other grads. After the ceremony all my gs wanted was to go to a Kobe's (a Japanese restaurant) with family and a few friends. It was very enjoyable.

We thought we were going to just turn around the following day and come back home but my daughter got us the hotel room for two days and we decided to stay another extra day. I had so much fun with my grand daughters. They picked the hotel we had previously stayed at that had an indoor pool. We took our dogs so the first day I sat at the sidelines watching because my Scottie wasn't going to let me out of his site and growled at any of the children that came close so Jeepers ate up the extra attention. (first little people Sparky had ever seen and they moved so quickly) The next day my daughter and friend coaxed me into getting into the pool by sitting at a table close to the pool. By this time Sparky wanted to run and play with the children but I still had to be close. So I'd swim out a bit with my gd and if Sparky looked anxious I swam back and gave him a hug and he gave me kisses. What a change in attitudes. This was the second day so later we went to my daughter's house for a BBQ. I must have had a sign on me that said 'fresh meat' because the mosquitoes zero'd in on me. I didn't see everyone else putting on the 'no bug spray'. I have never seen so many mosquitoes in my life. And bigger then any I had ever seen. But being with family was worth it.

“It was the best of times..." Charles Dickens comes to mind. So glad you made the trip and are home safe.

Thank You. And it is nice to be home. I just wish I could have stayed a few more days. I'm going to have to work on that for next time.

Yea! I'm glad you were able to attend his graduation even if you were tired. It sounds like it was a wonderful reunion, graduation and a safe trip all rolled into one. And it sounds like both dogs enjoyed themselves too. Welcome back and glad you are safe and sound.

Thank You, It was wonderful. Dillon is going to come for a visit this summer some time and I am really looking forward to it. I have been trying to figure out some things to do with him to keep things interesting. He was young when he lived here. It was easy to find things for the children to do as I was a Cub Scout leader a lifetime ago and haven't forgotten things we used to do. But, this will be something new for me.

Congratulations on your grandson's graduation and I'm so happy you got to be there for one of life's major events. I'm sorry about the heat - we've only got 12C at the moment about 53F here in Newcastle. It's a bit cold for us east coasters! I'm sorry about your Mozzies too, we have huge ones downunder as well. I hope you had a great trip back home and are now relaxing a bit! Love Chris

Thank you. The heat got to me because I was so tired and when we first got to the hotel some lady from Washington let her dog off it's leash and I exerted more energy then I had left to defend my dogs from her dog. It came at us with teeth bared and growling. That was at the time my daughter showed up to pick me up to go so she sent Dillon over to help me out. We met all types of dogs with responsible owners that I forgot to take the Halt with me. Besides I hate the idea of using it. I mean we met Greyhounds, spaniels, retrievers and little balls of fluff just to list a few-all on leashes.

A trip to remember in more ways then you can imagine. Loved my time with the grandchildren. Dillon used to stay with me on weekends so his mom could rest when they lived here in California, I miss them more then you can imagine.

Thank You...and it was Dillon who wrapped his arms around me first telling me how glad he was that I came to see him graduate. I got to meet a lot of his friends and that seemed special to me.

I'm so happy you had a safe and enjoyable trip, but mostly happy you didn't miss his graduation. We know all about mosquitoes here unfortunately, they have eaten on my grand daughters. I think it is all the rain that we had, they are worse than usual. It was great of your family to get you a place to stay and then spend some extra time with you. Have a good day today, Toogie

Hey Toogie...where are you from..you make it sound like MT. The plan was to stay where the children could visit and we could catch up on what has been going on.(glad the mosquitoes were outside) We had fun on on 2010 visit so we knew it would most likely be fun for all. I have never seen mosquitoes like Great Falls has, I am sure some of them had parents as big as dive bombers. It meant alot to be there...even all the driving...even almost saying good bye to all when a big rig came over into my lane without looking (and I wasn't in his blind spot) and me not really having a safe place to slip into...but I decided to speed up and the person in front did the same...saving about 3-4 cars from having a miserable day. I don't drive much...but this trip was like I had been driving everyday. Now I'm anxious to get out of the house all the more.
