So do you fast for the month ??Love your cups /mugs/thermoses hugs
Yes Carolyn...Ramadan is the month of fasting for all Muslims around the world :)
The fast is from dawn till dusk and we neither eat or drink anything! This teaches us patience and tolerance as well as appreciate the blessings of God even more! We are so blessed for all the privileges and at times just forget to be greatful to God for it :)
The fast also includes, re framing from anger, BUT not too many people remember this, especially just before sunset and they wait in line for fresh bread or the traditional foul (a bean dish). LOL
I have seen electric jug kettles shaped like the an Arabic coffee pot.

Blessed Ramadan to you also, Dolly! And have a great Eid celebration at the end. How I miss the Arabic coffee my friend Farial made for me every morning in Jenin (Palestine). Cardamom will always remind me of my time there, the smell of it takes me back to Salah-ed-Din Street and the Damascus gate in East Jeruaslem. Wish I could twitch my nose like Samantha the witch on TV and be back there now. Thanks for the memories. Hugs, Marji
Wishing a happy Ramadan to you too Dolly :)
We are having a great time. ..preparing and eating yummy Ramadan special preparations!
Would share some here on Cute too :)
Thank you! Ramadan Mubarak! I am currently in the UAE. There are similar coffee pots here. I love them because the coffee tastes a lot better in them. :-)
Oh WOW..... I did not think there were other cuties in this area! Hope you enjoy being here... except for the heal LOL
My Uncle worked for the company (Denoyer-Geppert) that set up kindergarten for boys in Ridyh,Saudi Arabia in the 80's (?) and he brought back one of the Dellahs for my mother, which I now have.
Thanks for sharing this!! Always interesting to see other religious ways. Have a nice holiday! Suzanne
Dolly - thank you so much for sharing these photos, and telling us about coffee in the Arab culture. You brought back many fond memories for me. I, too, have a Dellah but it is not so traditional. It is very plain and shiny. About 20 or so years ago I worked with several families from all over the middle east, so I was quite familiar with cardamom coffee and some of the social customs. Then, my husband spent some time working over there and brought one back for me. Mine is made of stainless steel, and now unfortunately, just sits on display in my china hutch. He is also familiar with the artistic coffee structure you posted.
I'm glad you teach us about the Muslim traditions. I never tire of learning.
Beautiful pots. Convenience for me is flipping the button on "MR. COFFEE".machine. Is coffee a special part of the fasting? Excuse my ignorance, but as Christian, I am not well-versed in other religions--but I am always interested in learning!
Arabic coffee is part of the hospitality in any Saudi home and many Saudi's are, just like any coffee drinker, dependent on their cup very often during the day.
