I was panic stricken when I realised I had put my Kam Snaps in the wrong places on a project, but a quick visit to YouTube solved my problem. In the video I watched the guy used a soldering iron to melt away the centre of the offending snap. I improvised by heating the shank of a broken machine needle in the gas flame. (I held it in pliers.) It worked like a charm and I didn't have to venture into Mike's workshop to find the soldering iron!

Great idea! I have had to remove a Kam Snap and, like Noah, I used needle nose pliers and held my breath with each tug that I would not damage the fabric. Fortunately, it came off and no damage to the fabric but I am going to definitely going to use your idea next time. Oh, yes, there will be a next time, lol!

That could damage the fabric as well. The hot needle is safer!

Cj2sew....I was thinking the exact same thing!
"Resourceful and possessed of an encyclopedic knowledge of the physical sciences, he solves complex problem by making things out of stuff, along with his ever-present Swiss Army knife. He prefers non-violent resolutions and prefers not to handle a gun."

Have you ever seen the old TV show "MacGyver". You could be his twin. You come up with such great ideas and you're always at work doing something. Way to go

Haven't seen that one here in UK.

MacGyver is a character who is always able to create a tool or machine from just the things in his pockets or the surroundings in order to escape or whatever the dire emergency that his character is going through that week. He would love your improvising. Great idea.
