That sun-catcher looks great. Have you tried hanging light curtains? Good luck!
Hugs, Lidia
AAAWW, bless your heart Mary for wanting to help these little creatures... we had the same problem with our picture window out front and we got a sunshade (one of those that is really dark that you can't see in but you can see out) Very pretty and useful project!
I have shades on these windows but have problem with man pulling them up all the way if he left them down a little that could help. So had to do something for light in and birds save. Trusting this will work day two all is well.
Love it Mary .Yes birds do that at my house to,never thought of putting something there, thanks for the idea.hugs
Thanks and actually sun catcher ideas would be great for those at the rest home you visit. Use those little suction cups to hang or put ribbon to hang at window for them to enjoy.
I've had that happen to me. This is a good idea . Great thinking on your part and nice work/Lillian
Beautiful sun catcher. I hope you have found the solution. In this house i have not had a problem with the birds hitting the window. They are more interested in getting to my grapes before me.
I don't have that problem now ,with the house, but we do have one at the storage shed. The electric wire is where he (redbird) perches. He sees himself and flies into the window, thinking to fight off another bird,I guess. He has knocked himself coo-coo a few times but still alive.....Just yesterday though, I heard a knocking. From my sewing room, I thought it was the baby Nora knocking, because it sounded softly, at first. By the time I got to the back, I saw the huge woodpecker pecking on my back porch! He did some damage to one of the boards,too...Let us know if this works for you-Toogie
Today it has been quiet. Them wood peckers are smart. I wonder if made a scarecrow with hubby clothes and put on my porch if it would run him off. It would probably get someone out to investigate seeing if man was stuck on roof. My hubby has gone out several times running him off. I love to watch birds and enjoy them but not hitting house. Thanks for dropping by.
What a beautiful solution. Maybe add a few more spaced around.
Thanks and the one room area is where the hitting has happened so I wonder if it is glare window or the green room and it thinks it would still be outdoors heading towards window thinking it is a fly zone.
The would be disturbing. I hope your solutions works well, so let us know. Thanks
I am so sorry that you have had to experience this. I fabricated window screens to fit outside of the window and that snap in place with heavy duty snaps on our sunroom windows (7). Yes, it cuts down on the sunlight and amazingly the heat! Haven't had birds hit the window since installing the screens. Have noticed a considerable decrease of heat coming into to the sunroom since attaching the screens as well as bird thumps :(
The screens would keep them from being knocked into coma or worse but even when I had screens on I had no problems till this year and I think it is when I open shades the room is green & birds see through to other side and thinks it is a flight path. I did not have green till closer fall last year.
We have the same problem with our window. I like your solution and hope it works. I'll try it too since I have plenty of designs for suncatchers. I just have to hope my handsome hubby's view isn't blocked.
This should work - I know of some who have done this and it solved the bird problem!
Love the design - looks great!
Thanks for your comment. It was suggested to me and I needed a project moment or two this week. Nice hear my machine talk to me for little while.
