My favorite are a small pair made in China with plastic handles. So cheap I have bought some more as standbys. I also love my Kai Embroidery scissors.
I see several people like the kai scissors, does anyone have a source to purchase that they have tried and like. thank you Toni lee
You can order them directly from the Kai website...free shipping anywhere in the USA. I probably have 12 pair of Kai scissors...love them...they are always at our sewing and quilt shows so I get them there...they also have a wicked seam ripper...and I love their rotary cutters, too!
Seems like Kai are popular! One of the cuties gave me a suggestion on sharpening mine so I will give that a try first. I like the ones I have, I just have to get the tip sharper! Thank you for all of the suggestions!
my tiny pair is Kai and just great. Would like to purchase some other sizes in Kai, but in the meantime I use a cheap pair of chinese-made about 2" blade, which are quite good and a really big pair of Zencix for dressmaking.
I use my tiny blue handled ones that came with my Brothers. I have 2 pair, 2 machines, but one I like better. One is a little stiffer/tighter to close/snip. I like the smoother/looser one.
Havel Squeezers. Trims threads and have super sharp tips. I bought 3 pairs so I wouldn't panic if something happened to my original.
These Havel brand snips are my favorites also. I got mine through my Viking shop where I purchased my machine and that does my servicing. When I found a site on ebay with great prices on a off brand, I tried to save money and purchased 3 pairs at under $4-5/pair verses 14-20 depending on where you get them for the name brand snips. Was it as good of a buy as I had thought I was getting- NOOOOOO, they do not work as well as those original snips. I will be regretting this purchase for quite a while, until they are dull enough to justify purchasing the better pairs. They do not work so poorly as to just toss them but they are not as smooth, blades not as sharp or hold their edge as well, but if just using them for thread snips, they work well enough, which is a majority of what I use them for. I will not grieve when one of these is retired. Love the originals though, I think the extra I will spend is far worth not feeling the disappointment I feel each time I notice a difference in the snip quality. Part of the problem is the off brand snips are not consistent, one will have a great edge the next not so great, so purchasing the off brand was a gamble and for about 75% less in price many would be happy with the product as would I likely have been, if I had not had the Havel's to start off with.
I also have the Havel snips and you are correct!!...they are wonderful...and a bit pricey. But I also bought them for my grand-daughter for Christmas. A nice keepsake from Gram....she loves hers.
My favourite ones are like my Embroidery machine they don't work properly. I had them Sharpened and the guy stuffed them up. Have not been able to replace them with a pair as good as they were,
Love Kai scissor...I bet I have 10 pairs if Kai scissors...at least...don`t tell Dennis!!!
I have two pair of Kai - both curved - one a big larger than the other.
My favorite are the little Fiskars softouch micro-tip. I received a set of softouch as a gift shortly after purchasing my first embroidery machine.
