Good luck with finding someone with a suitable reader/writer.
Computers are moving so fast these days that these older items can be so difficult to find a way to access them. Hug
My original embroidery/sewing machine was a Memorycraft 5000 & I had cards for use with that as well as a reader/writer box. All lurk in a cupboard now. Who'd go back to using that fiddly reader/writer setup or the PCMCIA(?) card adaptors when you can just save to USB and use those directly into the newer machines :) Friends had MC9000 and used the individual design cards and reader/writer box as well. I have a feeling that with subsequent machines, a CD came out that was 486 designs or something like that), which were all designs from those cards.
the cards are for the 8000 and 9000 embroidery/sewing machines
My first embroidery machine is a Janome MC 5700 and came with a Janome MC Reader/Writer and one Card for the scanner and software to make your own designs on the computer. These cards look like the ones that were available to buy at that time, but were out of my price range. My card is 5.4cm wide and does not fit in any other card reader that I have found yet. My Reader/Writer still works now but I don't use it very much these days unless I want to use both my machines to work on a project. If your cards are that size they may work in a R/W box if you can locate one. I would lend you mine but it is a bit hard, I am in Australia.
Cheers, Bev.
Thank you Bev. I don't suppose you want to send me a plane ticket?..I could visit with you a few days--haha These cards are only a wee bit wider than the slot in the MB--I don't suppose they could be ''shaved'' down a bit on the sides...but then, I cannot see inside the slot to count the pins. I fear it might be a lost cause.
Those cards can be read by The Amazing Box and converted then put on a pes card as stated in other post. They can't be saved to a computer. They will also fit the old ELNA emb machine. I have bought Janome and ELNA cards for my machine. Haven't seen any of these sold in years.
Thx, smokey. Unfortunately, I know no one with Amazing Box. My Magic Box lists Janome 10000, and list in manual mentions several other models. But evidently, not this card model, because it is too wide to slide into the slot.
They look just like the cards I use in my Janome/New Home 8000. I've never found a way to transfer them to the computer. I sure hope you do, and please share the information as I have many designs on my cards I would hate to lose if my old machine gives it up.
Oops, forgot to say they are probably for the machine that came after the 8000, and I don't remember the model number.
I have a pes card for Brother that can only be read by a brother machine. I don't think you'll be able to transfer them to your computer or to a usb hub. That is one way that they keep their copyright and without them being hacked. Let us know what you find out.
I have the mini Magic Box Plus. It reads other machine format cards (Pfaff, Janome, Bernina, White, etc) and will save to computer hard drive , where you can convert format. Will also convert in the box and write to blank card. The converter boxes (ultimate Box, Amazing Box, & magic Box ) have been around for quite a while...tho all don't save to your computer as the MB Plus does. It must be legal or they would not have been marketed. Tho most of the boxes will only convert and transfer to your blank card. My box transfers to computer or blank .pes card. My friend suggested I take the cards to Hancocks store & see if they have a demonstrator machine...copy the cards...and give them to the store. It's a holiday, however-- prob closed.
I should have added that my box was sold by OESD...No longer available as software & computers have made them obsolete.
they look like some that i have for my Janome 9000. You might try to put them on compact flash cards. Don't know if that will work but i have used them.
I have a call in to a friend who may know a (once) Janome dealer ((husq/Viking is only dealer in my town)....maybe she can tell me something. Would love a few of the designs, but hate for the new cards to be worthless.
They were for a machine dating back to about 1990, I think. My neighbour has one. I'd be interested to know if anyone can tell you how to access the designs - if is actually possible.
So would I. Most other cards are readable with Magic Box, but this card is too wide ( just barely) to fit into the reading slot. I can force it a bit, but not far enough for pins to connect. Again, a shame that I cannot access the designs.
