Yesterday at the thrift shop I got 2 purses for a dollar each. One has 5 zippers with cute little pull tabs and some neat handles and the other has some interesting hardware. Also with that one I cut apart the body of the purse and I am going to use it to make my first key fob from a free design that I got from Buggalena. A good day!

Today I got another dollar purse so I can make some key fobs with the vinyl. I checked Joann's online for marine vinyl and there is a 2 yard min. to order and at $20 a yard ($40 for the minimum order) that is way out of my reach and I do not have a store near me so for now I will use recycled purses.

Check back at Joann's and check their remnants. Always
under a yard and half price. They have some from time
to time. I got a piece at Hancocks 10" and super wide for
$1.38 plus tax. I think it will make cute key fobs. olds/Maureen

I have a habit of collecting small purses from Op Shops/thrift stores as well. However, I sew them onto a belt in which to hold empty plastic bags, a pickup tool and hand sanitiser for my doggy friends to pick up waste and have something to carry it home or to a bin in :)

It's a great way to recycle and make new again .also look for pretty buttons.lace and shiny things you can reuse. Fabric too from clothing.the best part about thrift stores is you never know what you will find.

The shop I go to has a $1 rack that changes each week and I always check it for men's shirts that I use to make quilts. A man's XXL yields a lot of fabric for a buck. The last one I made I used 7 shirts for a twin size, so 7 bucks for a quilt top.

Hi Queen, I have hardware too, that I've gotten off thrift store finds. I have some wooden handles, 1 pair bamboo, 1 flat wooden that I have in store for another bag sometimes. The hardware you can get off them is worth more than the dollar you spent, so I say 'Well done!'. I used 2nd hand hardware on the blue and white,Wavy Top Tote , that my SIL got. Have a great 4th of July, I'm leaving now to celebrate, at the old home place.-Toogie

It sounds like a great find. Have fun and be sure to show us what you do with the purses and their parts.
