I have all this puff type foam with a sticky back, so decided to try coasters with them.......the first pic is the bAck of the coaster before removal from hoop, the 2nd pic is how it looks from the front before removal from the hoop and the last pic is of all of them out of the hoop....I will probably do all my coasters this way as it was so easy, the foam just peeled away from the satin stitch, in fact you have to be a little careful, as the last one I did I was too rambunctous and tore the satin stitch away from the coaster along with the excess..........I think it looks nice without the satin stitch, too........This set will be up on my website tonight and is called Coastal....

These are just great--nothing wet will get thru them. I was told when I bought my first machine that Puffy Foam [a particular brand] was only to be used with puffy foam design files. I see NOT TRUE!!! Love them

Love these! Did you use 2 pieces of puffy foam? One on front and one on the back.. and what stabilizer would you use? I have some puffy foam from when I bought my machine but never knew what to do with it!! Thanks for this idea!!

Hi Nadyne........this is just plain peel and stick craft foam...this design stitches a die line, then tack down, then the design....after the design I took hoop out of machine and stuck another piece of foam to the back....another tack down stitch lays down and then the satin stitch....I did not cut any of the foam away until it was totally done and the foam just peeled away, but as I said be careful to hold on to the satin stitches when peeling the excess away as on one of them I was hasty and the satin stitch peeled off, but the coaster looks great even without the satin stitches around it......I used solvy ultra as the stabilizer........

These are very eye catching! The colors are vibrant and the contrast really make the design stand out wonderfully! Well done!

I was reading that puffy foam is "water resistant." Do you know if these are washable?

When I make me a set (with kitties on them, of course) I would just rinse them out under water....

Another question... do you think thin cork sheets could stand embroidery? I thought they could be glued to "something" afterwards for coasters?

ps love your designs and have many. Suz

Thanks for the kind words, Suz......I would be afraid that the cork would crumble when stitched on...I was even apprehensive about using the peel & stick on the multi needle machine as I have kept adhesive away from it, but I bit the bullet and they turned out great, even stitched nicely when I attached the back, so it stitched the satin stitch through 2 layers.......

I'm always afraid of hurting my machine in some way.... do you know if the thin foam sheets sold by JoAnn's will also work? Suz

Don't know, the foam I have has an adhesive on the back... they are called peel & stick foam sheets and the brand is Darice

Die sehen aber toll aus. Aber ich verstehe nicht ganz was ist "puff type foam"? Mein Google Translator hat mir da auch nicht wirklich geholfen. Vielleicht kann mir das jemand erklären. Danke und viele Grüße
Angelika
