No risk, no glory. This was a big success.
Isn't this the truth? Not trying is a guarantee of failure! Thanks so much for stopping by.
Would never have thought of this. How clever are you? Great job.
They look so Awesome!!!Well done...Love the way you have used the designs!!!
Thank you. I thought they were perfect for a little fun and will be a conversation piece when used I hope.
Really very nice. I also looked at those placemats but opted out from embroidering them. Good to know that it can be done. . great work.
You are very brave to try stitching on that style of placemat. Your choice of designs really make this project fun! Well done!
I wouldn't call it brave...maybe a little fool hardy; but not brave. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.
I've looked at placemats made like this but thought 'Naw, it's not going to work'. I am so glad you tried it and posted the pic's. Proves it can be done and also by posting how you stabilized it. What size needle?? I am always afraid to try different things but this is incredible!
I just used a standard 80/12 emb needle, did not need to slow the machine down or anything. This is thick enough it worked just fine for me. I admit I was nervous, when the first one completed I had a little more confidence. Thank you.
very nice & way to think outside the box on this material! ~hugs~
What a fun place mat! Even if real ants took over, you would still have to smile!
Love them Your designs actually look like they are floating on top. You've done a remarkable job on these/Lillian
These are so cute! I never would have thought to embroider on this material.... great idea that you had, and you've inspired a lot of us to dress up our "outside" placemats. Thanks for sharing...
PS... my faves are the ants with watermelon and the ants with strawberries. These are adorable designs.
Wow Leaha, this shows we can stitch on just about anything........these are great!
Very clever, would love to know how you stabilised and did you tack it to a hoop. Love the designs. I have used ants on things many times, but only embroidered on toweling and cotton.
Thanks for stopping by and the kind words. Sticky backed stabilizer; no hooping; no tack down stitching either. Crossed my fingers and pressed go! lol
Lol! I can hear the enthusiasm in your words, Leaha! Your placemats are awesome! Must find some to dress up!
Thanks Nancy, I really get excited when things come together as these did. I am so pleased with them. lol
I love the designs esp on the placemats. I'll have to look for this type of placemat and give it a try.
Impressive how well the designs stitched out the fibers which are quite loose... yes please do share what kind of backing stabilizers you used... the apple & the ants design is my favorite one ... good job!
Thank you for you kind words. I used sticky backed stabilizer, did not baste, impossible to hoop. Stayed right beside machine and prayed! lol
So cute, and unique.I did not know one could embroider on such an item, without it tearing apart the fibers. Did you hoop the item using sticky back stabilizer or adhesive spray and then baste the hoop parimeter prior to embroidering?
I used sticky back stabilizer; not hooped just pressed down; was afraid to even baste. This was just an experiment that worked for me. Thanks for you comments.
Very cute! The things we try to do embroidery on are amazing. How did you stabilize them?
Love the summer time place mats, especially the little ant with the fork and knife!
