Boy am I jealous. Everything is beautiful Michelle. Happy creating.
Hi Michelle, I know how you feel. You have some gorgeous fabric there. We are on our way home from a road trip after a month away, and I bought fabric in all the towns we stopped at, I have a cupboard full in the van! Can't wait to get home and start sewing!
I read below that you feel like its an adventure, looking at fabric. We are kindred spirits, because I feel the same. This afternoon, we drove 1 1/2 hours away, to a fabric shop that had only 2 yards of the fabric I needed. Hubby gave me very little time, I thought, to look over the store. (I could have stayed till closing-lol) I only bought one other piece and we headed back home :(
SUSPENSE-We did make another stop, that I will enlighten Cuties on in a couple of weeks.
Have fun with your fabrics!!!
Yeah! I think you will do wonderful things with this fabric. Happy Stitchin'!
I am jealous! Lovely fabrics. I know what you mean about prices here.... and I also know what it is like to have the "fabric police" with you! Hahaha
Enjoy your purchases.
Hugs, Nadyne
Beautiful fabrics and am drooling as I look at these. Enjoy as soon as you are able to create.
Congratulations a great buy.. Hope your next shopping expedition gives you more time..
Ooh! I can see lots of possibilities with all this fabric. Congratulations on such a great haul. 50 yards must have weighted quite a lot - I hope you were driving instead of flying. I'd need another suitcase to bring home all that fabric. Good luck with all the move to your new home. Love Chris
thanks Chris,
Yes we were driving (not too far from my place) so no limit (only on time). Next time my SIL and I are going and we will send the men on there merry way while we spend all day at the fabric stores. Oh what joy we will have,
Things are progressing on the move front,
hugs
Michelle
That reminds me of a saying I saw online somewhere: Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden. LOL Hope you and your SIL have a wonderful time.
Love that saying....another one someone should digitize. I can see this on the back of a jacket or sweatshirt!
Great selection of fabrics. Did you buy a yard of each? Yes I agree the prices in USA seem so cheap to us here in Australia as well. I would have to take an empty suitcase as I would go crazy with the selection they have. Look forward to seeing some more of your lovely baby creations.
Thanks, yes I just by a yard of each unless it is something I use for in the kitchen or that I plan to make and sell in larger quantities. If I am buying to use as bias binding fabric, I purchase 1.4 yards as this gives me nice long strips and I don't waste too much fabric.
nice lot of fabrics. Do you feel that when you shop, under pressure, it is quite difficult to buy? I always seem to come home with lots of unco-ordinating colours and bits that are too short!! Much better if I have a project in mind.
I don't like to shop under a deadline but I take what I can get and when hubby tags alongs I am always in a hurry. For most of the baby projects I make 1 yard is enough. I have learned over the years that too much of the same fabric bores me. I don't like making the same things more that once or twice. I have lots of co-ordinating fabrics that are basics in my stash and I have a little book that I take with me in which I have a little sample piece of fabric and so I use that to find the perfect match. If I purchase something in a new color range, I try to find it's partner at the same time. It is like an adventure and I love looking at fabric. It is such a treat.
Hi Michelle,
And it's a shame that here in Canada (Québec for me) there are almost more suppliers for seamstresses and other hobby of needlework. Walmart sell sewing machine...but we don't find the needle !?!?! thread, and other things about sewing and/or embroidery....And when there is a store with few fabric , it's expensive. I don't understand....and I'm really sad about it. So..........
I'm glad for you for having had the chance to do these beautiful shopping. Now, good sewing and hope to see your accomplishments.
Michelle
Put these on the top of the stash in the new house! Very nice selection.
Great stash of fabric. I don't know why we have never had that many choices here in Canada. With really only one fabric chain that being Fabricland, it would be nice if they could stock some bright and cheery fabric . Have a great weekend,
Your right we have fewer and fewer choices here and even at Fabricville (Québec) despite my 40% off, the prices are much higher. I purchase online mostly at Connecting Threads and then again when I go to the states.
Now with the C. dollar where it is I don't shop online at all ...(well hardly ever! )
Woo hoo, Michelle, I know you will make beautiful things with all this fabric!
Wonderful shopping spree. I can see you enjoyed yourself
Nice choices and you are going to have fun! I hope you come to visit often to keep your stash well stocked.
What a super nice assortment too! The only time that I think I am getting a great deal at the fabric shops in the USA is when I actually remember to bring my coupons with me! Looking forward to seeing some niffty projects using your stash of fabrics.
I did have a coupon for Joann's but did not buy very much there as I found it more expensive that Mardens.
Beautiful stash. Hopefully you do not exceed your luggage allowance. I am so glad you were able to pick up some bargains.
Lucky me, no limit as we drove to the states it' only 4 hours from where I liove. I try to go once a year.
