Your project looks fabulous. I feel your pain in the process though.
I did one with a 3 letter monogram for my best, best friend many years ago. The handle was wooden, but the tips did come off the spines. I layed down the end of my hinged table so I had a place to stand and keep the stress and weight off the machine. I used the same color in the bobbin as in the top thread and sprayed the inside and outside with boot waterproofing after I finished.
Never did want to try another one..................
Since seeing your photo of an umbrella that collapses may just make me rethink that.
Thanks, I didn't have a lot of pressure or stress on my machine, cause I was able to keep it off and then just hold the left side off the unit. It wasn't to hard.... I'm glad you might think about doing another one. I got my $3 umbrella at Wal-mart. It was one that collapsed all the way down to go into your purse. Thanks for looking.
I've done this before, too. I also pulled my machine to the edge of the table to accommodate the awkwardness of the open umbrella. Mine was for a friend of a friend and was one of those fancy "Thirty-One" brand items. Stressed me - won't do for strangers on expensive items again. May have to find some $3 ones to practice on. :0)
oh goodness. I would have never done it on an expensive one..... I found my $3 one at Wal-mart. Good luck in the future with others. Thanks for looking. Mechille
Wow! This is gorgeous! I smiled when I saw the last picture of the "work in progress".... not an easy thing to do! But the results are stunning! Thank you for sharing this with us. --Sharon
Thanks for looking. Yeah I started not to put that pic, but then I thought, well people might like to see how it was on the machine. Thanks again.
Fabulous job, when I tried this on my multi needle machine the spines broke.......great job....
This umbrella's ribs had 3 different folds/bends so I think that's what made it alittle easier to do. I don't think I could ever had done a large umbrella that didn't have folding ribs.
Thanks for looking.
Wow good job on this would have been tricky keeping the rest of the umbrella out of the way.
I pulled out my table and let the handle fall down behind it and let it stay slightly opened and just kept my eye on it the whole time. Thanks for looking.
Can you imagine Mary Poppins with your umbrella? I love your idea, also I have the little Brother SE400. Thanks a lot!
hehehehe.... I love my machine. I had some trouble with it and had to put it in the shop, but was happy to get it back.
Thanks for looking.
I've done this and "it ain't easy" to put it mildly. I told myself I will not do this again/Lillian
Hahahaha... I was saying the same thing when I was making it.... it was stress full. I was glad I wasn't doing it for someone else. At least with making for my daughter, if I messed it up, it wasn't a big deal. hehehe :)
My first thought...Yikes...my second thought...wonderful!
Awesome work thanks for the new idea hugs
OH, it wasn't my idea, Someone here had done some for an order, I just don't remember who it was..... but Thanks anyways. Good luck if you do one. I think because it's ribs folded a lot it made it easier. Thanks again.
Oh my. You sure are brave to put an umbrella on your embroidery machine. The result is awesome.
P.S. My moderator training helped me to remove your duplicate post
Thanks a lot........ I looked it over and thought.... well the umbrella only cost 3 dollars, so I wasn't loosing much if I messed it up.... hehehehe
Also, Thanks for removing the 2nd. post... I don't know what happened and sure didn't know how to remove it. Thanks again.
I know the cost of the umbrella isn't bad. I think I would worry more about my machine. Like I said you are brave.
The duplicate post happened to me numerous time as well with no explanation and I hoped one of the moderators would remove it. They and the owner are the only ones that can.
Well, It didn't place any stress on my machine, so I didn't think anything bout it. I held the left hand ribs (off the embroidery unit) the whole time while it sewed.
