This is an umbrella I put embroidery on for my daughter. It was a little stress full, because I couldn't take the ribs out of the umbrella. It's still wet from the WSS, but she likes it really well.

I know a cutie posted one they had done for someone and talked about making sure when she finished the order for the lady that she was going to tell her to get the umbrella's that the ribs could be removed, but I couldn't remember who it was.....and I know know why. hehehe The umbrella is wrinkled, but I hope you get the pic. The last pic is during the embroidery process and what it looked like on my small Brothers SE400. I hope y'all enjoyed looking at it. Have a great day.

Your project looks fabulous. I feel your pain in the process though.
I did one with a 3 letter monogram for my best, best friend many years ago. The handle was wooden, but the tips did come off the spines. I layed down the end of my hinged table so I had a place to stand and keep the stress and weight off the machine. I used the same color in the bobbin as in the top thread and sprayed the inside and outside with boot waterproofing after I finished.
Never did want to try another one..................
Since seeing your photo of an umbrella that collapses may just make me rethink that.

Thanks, I didn't have a lot of pressure or stress on my machine, cause I was able to keep it off and then just hold the left side off the unit. It wasn't to hard.... I'm glad you might think about doing another one. I got my $3 umbrella at Wal-mart. It was one that collapsed all the way down to go into your purse. Thanks for looking.

When I washed the WSS off, it dripped alittle, but several of the cuties here told me to put a water proof spray or Scotch Guard on it to keep it from leaking.

I've done this before, too. I also pulled my machine to the edge of the table to accommodate the awkwardness of the open umbrella. Mine was for a friend of a friend and was one of those fancy "Thirty-One" brand items. Stressed me - won't do for strangers on expensive items again. May have to find some $3 ones to practice on. :0)

This umbrella's ribs had 3 different folds/bends so I think that's what made it alittle easier to do. I don't think I could ever had done a large umbrella that didn't have folding ribs.
Thanks for looking.

Wow good job on this would have been tricky keeping the rest of the umbrella out of the way.

I pulled out my table and let the handle fall down behind it and let it stay slightly opened and just kept my eye on it the whole time. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful. Now be sure to put ScotchGuard or something water repellent on it so she can use it in the rain.

Hahahaha... I was saying the same thing when I was making it.... it was stress full. I was glad I wasn't doing it for someone else. At least with making for my daughter, if I messed it up, it wasn't a big deal. hehehe :)

Oh my. You sure are brave to put an umbrella on your embroidery machine. The result is awesome.
P.S. My moderator training helped me to remove your duplicate post

Thanks a lot........ I looked it over and thought.... well the umbrella only cost 3 dollars, so I wasn't loosing much if I messed it up.... hehehehe
Also, Thanks for removing the 2nd. post... I don't know what happened and sure didn't know how to remove it. Thanks again.

crafter2243 by crafter2243 31 Aug 2015

I know the cost of the umbrella isn't bad. I think I would worry more about my machine. Like I said you are brave.
The duplicate post happened to me numerous time as well with no explanation and I hoped one of the moderators would remove it. They and the owner are the only ones that can.

mechille by mechille edited 01 Sep 2015

Well, It didn't place any stress on my machine, so I didn't think anything bout it. I held the left hand ribs (off the embroidery unit) the whole time while it sewed.
