In my 57 years I have moved probably around 25 times. Never have I had the nightmare of a move that I had on Saturday. From the get go it turned sore. The boss on the move was an arrogant, know it all type that was just unbearable. He arrived, looked around, complained about the amount of stuff we had and then announced, ''it's a lot of work but we can do it'' so off we went. We had been given an hourly quote and estimate of how much the move would cost and once they (his two co-workers were top notch) had 90% of our stuff loaded the boss advised us what the total cost would be and the amount was 4 times what we had been told. He and hubby got into an argument, he was going to refuse to deliver our belongings, (nightmare I tell you) and I finally lost it and screamed for the both of them to ''shut up''. They were so shocked they were dumbfounded. We managed to finally get to our destination (I hoped the men would have time to cool down but it didn't work) and the problems persisted. Again the boss threatened not to unload our things, threatened to call the police all the while I had my son and daughter trying to keep their father away as he was beside himself. He even went sofaras to say he could slow his guys down to carrying one box per 5 minutes so that the bill would be even more.

The worst situation I have even been in. I was absolutely horrified at this persons unprofessionalism, and down right meanfullness all the while trying to tell me he was the good guy in this mess. As I got more distraught over the whole fiasco, my son got increasingly angry and had to put his 2 cents worth in there. I was finally able to negotitate with this idiot and it was still 3 times higher but I just wanted my stuff delvired and him GONE.
Unbelievable all of this but we are now in our house, it is a total disarray but we are working through it. Despite all of this, as I sat on my veranda having a ''spot of tea'' yesterday lunchtime, I thought to myself '' all the crap from yesterday is still worth it to be living here''. It seems surreal, we are pinching ourself (maybe that why I have so many bruises lol). I will launch a complaint against this company and especially the particular guy as I would not want this to happen to another person.
I have not forgotton about pictures but at the moment I don't have a clue where I would find a camera in this mess.
I realized after all of this that if more woman ran countries, were présidents and prime minister, we would probably live in a more peaceful world. Maybe I should run LOL, LOL.
Take care all and thanks for letting me rant.
hugs
Michelle

oh Michelle that is tragic! Try to register your complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) & then forget about it you have so much to do to settle in & enjoy your new home, he is not the worth the frustration he has caused you. Word of mouth goes along way when you know of others needing this kind of service. Best wishes in your new home. ~hugs~

Unbelievable how people can behave nowadays. Also he knew that somehow you would agree with the price, since you want to move and everything was already in the van. If he was really the boss, I guess you can't write a complain , can you. These things happen and really can make you angry..But then.. look now at the bright side. you are moved now..just unpack everything now and start enjoying you new place.

I am just so sorry you have had such an unpleasant incident. Moving house is bad enough without all of that. Hope you will be happy in your new home. Hugs.

Unbelievable how obnoxious some people can be. I'm glad you can find your happiness at the end. You definitely need to file a complaint. You were treated shabbily and your possessions held hostage. That's no way to run a business. I've had my share of rants, so I have no problem with others letting off steam. :-)

Goodness! At least he's gone & you're in your house! By all means, file a complaint! He should have told you soon as he looked around it would be more...before he started to load. I feel sorry for the men working under him! Relax & take it easy unpacking!

I am so sorry your move did not go well Michelle. I would also get in touch with your local newspaper and Better Business Bureau and report him. Did anyone get anything on Camera as to their behaviour?
On a better note, you are in the home of your dreams and now can set it up the way you want to. I wish I was there to help you unpack...Hugs

The good news is that you never have to do it again. I hope none of your things were damaged and that will be a relief, too, if they are all in one piece. Don't let that person ruin your day and your happiness in your new home. Big hugs!

Michelle for PRESIDENT!! Gets my vote!!! YOU go, girl!! Sorry, for the frustration, and I truly understand how you wanted to just get into your new home quietly and quickly!! Rule of thumb, always get an estimate in WRITING beforehand! Then, no matter their mumbling, slowness, or increasing price verbally, allow them to get everything moved, shake your CONTRACT in their face telling them THIS is what I will PAY!! Don't argue! Just stay calm, cause you have a legal agreement in writing! Too many scammers out there!
NOW, I am so glad you are in your new paradise!! Relax, and enjoy!!
Hugs, Angel

I am so sorry you had to endure all this. I would defiantly report the guy and movers to anyone and everyone. I have heard of these scams where they load the truck and jack up the price. They refuse to release your belongings until you pay... Report them to the state to the better business bureau to the attorney general anyone!! Well enjoy our new house!! Suzanne

Definitely run for President, you'll be a shoe in. lol. glad you things arrived intact. I agree with the girls you need to report this bad behaviour and tell them you will not be recommending the company to any of your friends and that (he) is the reason behind it.. Now you can relax and unpack 1 box at a time..

I'm so sorry to read this Michelle. Like you we have moved around a lot, but we were very fortunate in that BHP did all of our moving. The only time we have had to do it on our own was from Valentine to here in Jewells and that was great. When we had a second move to Victoria we had a Pantechnicon and it knocked down the power lines above the street!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a huge van!

What a nasty man to do that to you especially when you had been given a quote. I hope you haven't paid the bill yet, as there are things you could do about it. I would definitely, like you, complain to the Management of the Removalist firm too. Thankfully you got your things eventually delivered, albeit, with difficulty. At least that day is over and you can now look forward to your new life in your wonderful home and surroundings.

Now make a fresh pot of Tea, take your shoes off, sit on your verandah and purvey God's creation in all its beauty and glory. I'll be toasting a cuppa with you! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy your wonderful new life.

AND HEY!!!!! Listen Michelle, if Kanye can run for President, why can't you? he he he! Love from your mate from downunder Chris

Oh, Michelle...so very sad to hear this...and to put such a damper on what should have been a smooth happy experience...it's sometimes difficult when contracts are conducted "per hour" as opposed as a flat price for the job...ask me how I know...on the bright side, you are in your new home with all of your belongings. I hope you can now begin to relax and enjoy...

I feel terrible that you had such a nightmare of a mover. Maybe if you had a video camera focused on him he would have not risked the repercussions of trying to ransom your belongings. Hope that any memory of him will fade quickly but that you also do file a complaint against him, though I also think that complaints would not stop a guy like him from continuing to search for ways to try to scam the next person. He is not worth wasting your time with or stressing over. I am just glad they did not damage anything, or keep your belongings. I am also glad that after just 1 day, you can say it was still all worth it. That must be some view to be able to ease all that stress! Hope all gets settled quickly. After reading this hope you go take another look at your view or better yet sit on the veranda looking at the view while reading these messages. Enjoy that view! Pam

I'm so glad you will be filing a complaint. That is certainly a horrible experience. and with all of the moves you have survived, you know when it is a bad move. At least you have your stuff and can start to settle into your new home. Enjoy your "spot of tea" every day now.

So sorry to hear of your experience. It seems this younger generation want to make money without earning it - so sad!!

Once you get unpacked and settled, the bad memories will fade away and you will be able to relax and enjoy your new surroundings

Ohmygoodness, what a horrific experience. A move is stressful enough without that guy's attitude. He obviously doesn't get work from referrals. I hope you are so happy in your new abode that you never need to move again, after that one :)

I am disappointed that you have had so much stress with this last move. In Australia you are given a firm quote and this is the final price you would pay. I have had a few more moves than this due to my husbands job before he retired, and never had anything like this at all. Eventually you will get sorted In the coming days, i hope you are able to destress, relax a bit, and enjoy your new surroundings. Take time out for you and your husband. Sandra.

So sorry to hear of your nightmare move. That is the trouble when you can't get a fixed quote they just see you as a money making bank and once they have your belongings on board hold you to ransom. We have decided if we ever move again we will pack ourselves into shipping containers then we don't have to deal with the hourly rate go slow.

I am so sorry you had this awful experience with your much anticipated move. I would definitely lodge a complaint. In the US we have the Better Business Bureau and we can lodge a complaint there that is available for checking far beyond what the company itself may do with a complaint. Hopefully the worst is over and you can enjoy(?) finding just the right place for all your stuff.
