See you have good detailed information from Pam , good luck. Maybe you have to make a new one if all else fails. Sandra.

I'd do the same as what Pam has suggested. Try adding another piece to lengthen the lower section. If all else fails, I'm afraid you will have to make a new one! Love Chris

Are you trying to save the original vest or using the same pattern and remaking the vest? If you are remaking the vest and you know it was just too short in length but fit the chest and arm holes, back, etc then on your pattern there is generally a line they have put on the pattern where to add length or shorten a garment. If it is not on your pattern then would create a horizontal line about half way or little more toward the lower part of the vest pattern pieces and add the amount needed to each of the pieces, 2-3-4" what ever amount that is needed. The line is generally above the false pocket that is sometimes found on men's vests and just create your own line that does not interfere with the button holes, vest pocket or any other parts of the vest if possible. If not possible then be sure to make any alterations to those other areas and re-figure where your button holes will need to be stitched. To prevent another remake I think I would make up a sample out of interfacing or cheap cloth to make sure it fits the guy, and OK'ed by the bride so there are no more surprises for you. Saving the original might be difficult as it would need to have a seam where material was added and if using the original that would be 2 seams where the additional material was put in. This could be masked by adding embroidery or some coordinating material, but often is just not worth the hassle to try to save the item. Or if saving the top and just cutting a new lower section, it would make just one seam that could possibly be masked with adding a trim, but the vest would likely look better to be completely remade. Difficult situation as you made what was ordered. Hope this information is helpful and just ask if I can help in any other way. Pam

Try making another vest but just lengthening the pattern . Make the pattern from unbleached domestic (muslin) as sometimes this is very cheap. This way you'll know it fits well.
