Hi Cuties, Well I finished the Portable Baby Change Mat, with a couple of modifications. I am very happy with the way it has turned out. Hope you like it too.

1. Baby Mat Open with Clear Plastic Overlay and side flap pockets to hold wipes & nappy, but I decided to put disposable bags in the pocket instead.
2. My addition to the baby mat, a clear plastic overlay, I bound the edges.
3. The original pattern only had the centre Velcro on it, but I found that when you were holding it by it's handle the sides of the flap pulled up. Adding the side Velcro pieces looks a lot better.
4. Baby bag closed.

The original pattern sourced from So Sew Easy

Thankyou for looking.

I know a few new mothers who would enjoy this mat. Your adaptations are excellent and really improve its utility. Thanks for pointing out the pattern and your improvements!

Hi sbott54, Thankyou.
When I am searching the net and find pictures or patterns of craft ideas, I read that you should mention were and who made the item. So I always make sure that I include this in my projects.
I know the lady who I was making this for, just loved the little extra care and detail that made in this baby change mat.

Lorraine, your binding it 'to die for'! So neat! but then the whole project is. I love the colors too. I may have to look this up and make one, as we have a new baby coming end of March. I recently got a whole roll, which had almost 10 yards in it, of Baby Dry I will use instead of the plastic, though. I love this stuff and it has been a life saver for me, most recently. I like it better than PUL, but I know a lot of ladies do like PUL. I guess its a personal thing, but Baby Dry works excellent for us. Believe me when I say we have 'tried and tested it'.-lol

Hi toogie, Thankyou so much for your kind words, the original instructions are only made with cotton material, so I thought it would be a good idea to have the plastic overlay. Did not now you could buy Baby Dry material, must have a look for next time. Hope your family is well and settled into there new home.

Never heard of Baby Dry; have heard of Pul. I'll look for it and try it out for the next baby project. Thanks for the suggestion.

What a great idea. You could also use the Baby Pul Fabric, which is waterproof and very soft and flexible, and its 60" wide
