Nearly all time when the bottom thread loops or shows on top the culprit is usually the bobbin tension or threading.. I'll usually direct someone to check upper and lower threads to make sure they are in the tension disc correctly and also caught in the slot correctly in the bobbin, otherwise if it is correct I lower the top tension. There are a couple blocks I've done in a purchased quilt ITH that does this and had to resort to putting same color thread in bobbin [just to hide it]. But, rethreading the machines usually work. Hope you can make it work.
Check to see if the bobbin is put in correctly and the thread is going in the right direction. I used to get loopies all the time, but after I had the machine serviced, they stopped.
Thanks Penny, yes, the bobbin is in correctly and there is only one way to thread the Designer SE. Thanks for your input. Love Chris
Another couple cute little bags.Have you checked your bobbin area and the thread trace. Just the littlest piece of lint or thread can cause problems. Also Thread, fabric, needle ratio's.
Pretty bags! I use a 14 needle when I quilt, found using smaller needles did not always make correct stitches. Embroidery i use an 11. Way back when, when I was just sewing, a 14 was the needle everyone used. My machine is a Babylock Ellegante, so the tension numbers are different. For embroidery, I lessen the preset tension, as it's set at the factory for sewing, but for the quilting-freemotion and normal stitching, I leave it as it is.

Thanks Jo, that seems to be the solution, adjusting the tension. I'll have a try later on. Love Chris
My machines are Brothers so can't help with the tension issues but your bags are real cute in spite of the problems.
really pretty bags Chris & I do hope the suggestions given will help with your loopies. ~hugs~
Love your bags!!! Over the years I have had several Husqvarna sewing and embroidery machines, never had a problem with tension. I bought a used Designer 1, the lady I bought it from said r she had had problems with the tension, the dealer even gave her a new machine, the I bought. She always used pre wound bobbins. I wind my own, never had any problem when I got it. Love all you work...

Thanks Kathy for your input. I've never had issues with tension either. It's just frustrating when something like that happens. Love Chris
These are very pretty.... my favorite colors! --Sharon
Thanks Sharon, yes, it's one of mine too. Mostly purple, blues and aquas for me. Love Chris
My godson is getting married next month, and his bride-to-be chose purple and aqua as her wedding colors. I had never thought to put those two colors together, but wow is it pretty!
Your zip bags are excellent. Love the colors. I haven't had to change the tension on my Designer SE while using it in the embroidery mode. The only time I alter tension is when I'm in sewing mode, making something with special fabric considerations (vinyl, faux leather, pre-quilted fabric, heavy fleece, etc.). The tension is set at 2.8 when I turn on the power so that's where it stays for embroidery. However, I might try Lidia's suggestion on thicker fabrics/projects in the hoop if trouble occurs.
Hi Laffma, I've never touched the tension on my machine and I've had it for a long time, but I'll try to do something tomorrow. Love Chris
Don't know anything about the Husq. Chris but do love your bags/Lillian
I agree with Lorraine, lower the top tension to 2.2 or 2.0 or even 1.8. My Husqvarna Topaz 30 had the tension set to 2.8 for a while, like yours, but I had problems with the top thread, like loops, shredding and cut thread until, through trial and error, I lowered the top tension to 1.8 . I never use a 90/14 needle, I mainly use 75/11 and sometimes 80/12.
Hugs, Lidia
P.S.: Love your bags!
Thanks Lidia, I always use a 75/11 for embroidery too, but mostly for FSL. I do like a 80/12 most of the time and occasionally use the 90/12 for heavier weighted fabrics. I am going to try what Lorraine and you have suggested. Thanks for commenting, love Chris
Hi Chris, When I am doing any embroidery work on my Husqvarna Designer 2, I always set the tension at 2.2. I hope this helps you. These look great. Love Lorraine
Thanks Lorraine, I'm going to try a different tension tomorrow to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for taking the time to answer me, love Chris
I love these Chris, especially in blue...what size are they?
Hi Kerry, these ones were made in the 150 x 240mm hoop. I've got another bigger hoop too 150 x 360mm, but the above purse size is great for cosmetics, brushes, makeup etc. Hope all is well with you guys. Love Chris
Hi Chris, Love the bags, and the colours are so pretty! Sorry I can't help you out with your tension.
