World Cup fever has hit our house in a big way and Mike is spending long hours in front of the TV watching the matches. (Rugby Union is his number one passion!) It occurred to me that almost all of the countries represented here on Cute are involved. England, South Africa, France and Japan have already played a match and he is currently watching USA play Samoa.

Anyone else vaguely interested?

Yes, rugby mad at my house. My husband used to play. So did my sons through high school & university. One son was a rugger referee and did a lot of international club games, men's and women's. I miss watching them play!

It is usually so cold on the touchline though!

Oh Yes!! I love it when the shortstop can get the puck over the goal post and then the quartback scores that one love thingy by doing the best backstroke. Oh....I love sports! (LOL!!) Nope!!!....I'm a stitcher. But I think it's great to have a hobby or great interest in things. Keeps the old mind going ! You go girl !!

LOL I keep out of the way as I tend to bring England bad luck.

He was very impressed - it puts a whole new slant on the tournament!

Being English / South African I was extremely disappointed in the way the Boks played. The Japanese were fantastic.

Rugby; bones heal and girls dig scars. Is this the correct game?

I'm a US football widow! LOL I can understand the passion. Cedar Rapids is crazy about all sports here. The media cover every sport--age, gender, school (grade school through college and league). TV broadcasts fishing challenges, volleyball, everything! Women have full coverage. Yah!

Nö Rugby here, just soccer - which I hate. Went to Ice hockey games to see my 6 yr old granddaughter play. We loved it and took a number of nice pictures to remember the day.

No but the boys and myself spent a interesting time yesterday watching speed sheering (sheep) which took place two doors down from us. Enjoy the chance to do some designing, sewing or redesigning the house

Everything I know about rugby: 1. Step-daughter is in love with it since she moved to Britain. 2. They sing songs in the stadium that you can hear across the town. Sorry, that's it!

League or Union?

graceandham by graceandham 20 Sep 2015

It's about the towns. Does that tell you?

Help, I am confused. Wasn't the men's world cup 2 years ago and the women's world cup last year in Brazil? We keep up with world cup, but not all the playoff games leading up. We support Brazil even though our USA women won.

It's rugby not soccer.

spendlove by spendlove 20 Sep 2015

There is a World Cup for soccer and one for cricket, but this one is for Rugby Union. 15 players per team and an odd shaped ball! Rather more physical than soccer.

Good luck to all. No, but I can understand the interest in watching. I would just rather be doing other things.
