So cute wish my three granddaughters would wear a skirt like this but they live in jeans
I love it Kay. Ashley wore one at a school 'sock hop' or dance at the gymnasium. She sure had fun. Everyone was dress in that period, satin jackets with emb on back!
Pretty skirt. Never thought of making clothes out of felt before.
This was popular in the 1950's. I have no idea who came up with the idea. Yes, I had one!!
i am having a terrible time remembering were to post .It is sometimes hard to teach an old dog new tricks .But i am trying lol
Anyways it looks great Kay hugs
Awww she will love it Kay. Really brings back lots of memories. Love it/Lillian
This is very cute, love the design. Beautifully embroidered, well done. Sandra.
Cute! I made one for my great niece last year. She was also 13. She loved it. She's going to try and make a skirt for herself this year! I had a felt circle skirt (turquoise) at about the same age, but mine didn't have a poodle.
Oh! My! Mine was turquoise ,too and I had a grey real fur poodle with a red leash. We wore all those petticoats under the full shirts. Kay
Yes, I had petticoats and I either wore a little scarf tied at my neck or a white fur collar with pearl dangles that slipped over the neck of my sweater. I felt so grown up!
I begged my parents for one of them and once I owned one, I would have worn it every day, if they only would have let me. Thanks for the memories and you did a great job
Very nice. Please what is a cotillion dance?
Well. since I never did it , I may not answer correctly. It is a well organized activity for teens. Both boys and girls and meets for several times. They learn how to properly set a table and manners eating and social. They learn dance techniques and basically have fun. If any of you have either done this or had your children do this , please help me!! Kay
The cotillions we have in my city are more like a debutante ball. It is a formal ball and social gathering where the parties leading up to it teach manners, social skills and appropriate attire. (It's really a bit stuffy.)
Well , in the South a cotillion was a formal dance, with beautiful ball room gowns and the me/boys in uniforms or tuxedo dress. Now as Kay says the word is used for a gathering where formal manners, proper social etiquette etc. Is taught while having fun in a Par--ty atmosphere/Lillian
I don't think so. it is not that formal. They will come as 1950's attire also. probably greased up hair and what ever! Kay
I think the debutante ball stuff is for high school junior and senior activities. More like a coming party out thing. The cotillion is more for the younger kids. Kay
It is gorgeous Kay and she will love it! I made one of these for Amy when she was in high school and she loved it! Love Chris
So cute, she will love it.
She and my daughter picked out the felt fabric and applique. I hope she likes it. Kay
It's adorable!!! I remember having one of those. No one will know how you talked that leash into submission if you don't tell them. :)
I first tried that invisible thread with a long zig-zag stitch using the Bernina #12c bulky overlock foot and it puckered and I ripped it out and put the black thread in using the same foot with a straight stitch and on third try just settled. When I pressed it slightly ,it did help some. Kay
