Can someone tell me how often they get their machines serviced? I have a Husqvarna Diamond, I put it in for service 3mths ago and it is playing up again, every time I want to embroider, I have to re-calibrate it, then after a short time the screen starts going pixel, that is what it was doing before and I put it in for service, I will have to take it back to get the mechanic to look at it again..... Have I got a dud with the machine ? I am not happy, this is the only machine I have and I love sewing, my husband wants me to get a new machine, but this one is not even 2yrs old! can anyone help me... what amI doing wreong ?

Now its Friday and I have just got off the phone from Maarteen the mechanic that did the service, he tells me its fixable .... yippee, I am now happy dancing around my room...... he has told me if I take my machine to him one day next week he will look at it straight away, all I have to do is go for a walk for a couple of hours,..... that is no problem Spotlight store for material is not far down the road, I can loose myself there for a couple of hours. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for all your support

Trish

Wednesday 7th October

Hi Everybody, Just thought I`d let you all know that I have spent the day down in Newcastle at Thorpe & Co the mechanic for my machine, and he fixed my machine while I was wandering around the shops, its working for me now, he was very good to do it for me so quick, and I appreciated him doing that.
He said that the pixel problem was a clinch that is happening to a small amount of Husqvarna Diamond machines, Husqvarna are aware of the problem and told him what to do..... there are two cables that separated themselves in the computer part and created an electric static sending the computer into to chaos causing the pixels to happen and mucking up the calibration,
All sounds confusing , but he fixed it and hopefully now I can once again enjoy my sewing machine.

Thanks to all Cuties that gave me support and encouragement while I was feeling down, it all helped
Love to all , Trish

I have a 5 year old Viking Topaz. If I embroider alot I take it in Once a Year. My Dealer says that is all it needs. I just had it serviced After 2 years because I got sick and didn't sew very much. My Machine is about 3 Steps Below yours. Viking is Excellent about their machine. My Motherboard blew-up under warranty and my Dealer gave me a loaner (It was xmas and they had no parts coming in) I would talk to your Dealer Something isn't Right. You can always insist on talking to the viking Rep if your Dealer gives you the run around. GOOD LUCK

I am starting to feel confident that my machine is not a lemon, after all the comments here, there are a lot of happy Husqvarna machine people out there so hopefully it is only something simple, thanks for your encouragements.Trish

I do not have a Husqvarna emb machine so don't know about them much.
But as for services - my machines are covered by a three month guarantee after each service and my current sewing machine is a Husqvarna when it had problems, a lot of it was covered by the original purchase warranty. And as you are going to the shop's service man then it may be covered.
Glad to hear that shop in Scone is still there. Went through Scone a couple of weeks ago on the train and wondered about it. I was in there when the next one after the Designer 1 came on the market. Long time ago.
Good luck with your machine.

thanks for your encouragement, , its not the cost of fixing that bothers me, its the fact that it is playing up after only a short period of time after service !..... I will take it back to the mechanic that worked on it I am sure he will now what to do.

I had basically the same thing-Husqvarna Diamond Delux,2 yrs old and authorized dealer whom I totally trust- and and the dealer sent it to an autorized factory repair as it was beyond the normal shop repair.Just got it back and have only sewed but will try the emb out tonight
If you are goig to opt for the new one trade in this one as is & try to pre order the Iris and get all the freebies plus a $2000 extra trade in value. I think those offers run out Sept 30 though. Check the us web site.
Good luck

Thank you for your comments and suggestions, will check the site and have a look at what they are offering, Will be ringing the authorized dealer this morning, to see what they want me to do, when I picked up the machine he told me that every 12mths would be plenty for a service, so I wasn't expecting this to happen so soon, .... as Dragonflyer said it might be the computer board, hopefully he will be able to fix it for good,
Thanks Trish

So sorry to hear this...sounds like more than an adjustment...if your screen is going to pixels, it could be a computer board that needs to be replaced...sounds a bit like a lemon, but I don't have a Husqvarna machine...and it doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong...I would try to get a new machine since it is so new and you have had it serviced before for this same problem...you may have to contact Husqvarna directly and have the machine sent back to them...

Oh dear , computer board sounds bad..... was going through my manual and found how I can see how much I have used the machine in sewing hours, it says I have 169hours and 44mins, I assume the mechanic put it to zero when he serviced it, so that is the time I have sewn in 2 and half months ! Don't know if that's a lot of hrs or not . thanks for you comments, I appreciate them. Trish

If it turns out to be a computer board, it should be fully covered by your warranty....keep us posted!

I do my machines once a year. If it was just fixed it should not do that. Call them again right away. They should do it over again for nothing since you already aid to have that problem fixed. Good luck!

I am going to speak to the people about the machine today, will also speak to Husqvarna and see what they say, maybe there is something that I can do from home, but I don't like my luck :(

I get my machine serviced twice a year. I do use it a lot though Trish and Maarten my service mechanic has been with me since my very first Husqvarna.

What you have said though is not good enough, let them know you belong to a world wide embroidery site and you've spoken about your experience with us. I would take it back and ask for a replacement machine whilst it's being serviced.

Where do you live Trish - I know you are somewhere in New South Wales? I hope you can get good attention to it this time. Love Chris

I live in Scone NSW, I dare say you would know the people I take my machine to in Hunter Street Newcastle !!!! I did not buy the machine from him, I didn't know about him till after I bought this machine from a local shop here in Scone, the lady told me they service the machines when I got it, but when I went to her she said I have to go to Newcastle, for me that's a 6 hr round trip... but I will do it to get my machine working. They are lovely people there,

Hi Trish, yes that is Thorpe's and Maarten is the man who owns the shop. He and his staff even have me on their mobile phones! I'm a very good customer!!! I'm sorry you didn't buy it from them, and yes, they are lovely people. Only thing is he's been away for a holiday and of course he has a backlog! I was speaking with someone the other day about him and she told me there was a backlog of about 5 weeks! So it could be weeks before you get it back. Can you not try and see if you can get a replacement or loan machine from the place where you bought yours from? Love Chris

When I went to pick my machine up from him the last time, I asked him how often I should service the machine, he suggested 12-18mths, he told me that he had a lady that services her machine every 6mths but she does a lot of sewing ( you came to mind when he said that) I can see by what you post that you do , do a lot of sewing and probably a lot more that you actually post, I don't do as much as you, I was looking in the manual last night, found a timer that says I have done 169hrs and 44mins sewing time, assuming that it was set to zero at the last service, that is all I have done, is that what Maarten would call a lot of sewing?
Trish

pennifold by pennifold 01 Oct 2015

Yes, he was referring to me Trish. My current time on mine is 324hrs! I only had my machine in a few months ago. Maarten always comments on how much I do! And yes, there is a lot I don't post. I would hate to think what Carolyn's machines do!!!!! She sews all the time. he he he! Love Chris

Be sure to insist on them giving you a loaner since it was not fixed the first time. As far as trading up goes, I had a Ruby Deluxe that was wonderful for the first 2 years, then started having problems, so I did trade it up for a Royale which I love so far. Don't worry that it is user error, as these are electronic machines which do have issues from time to time. Good luck. Hugs. Nan W

Thanks Nan, that is what I have... a Diamond Royale..... I love it too, am so upset though, my husband paid a lot of money for this machine, we don't expect to have this trouble with a machine that cost so much and so young too.

I don't have your type of machine but definately get you service person to check it further. Keep on complaining each time something goes wrong to them and the company where you bought it, maybe there is a fault in this particular machine. Good luck and hopefully happy sewing.

thankyou for your encouragement, I will complain to him, the thing is I live 3hrs drive from the people that service this machine, that's a 6hr round trip, we lave a long weekend here this weekend, so I wont be able to get it to him till Tuesday, was hoping to get some sewing done, well wasn't meant to be :(

I get my Diamond in about 2 times per year. It usually acts up about that often though I doubt I sew as much as many on this forum. I am picking up mine today as it had a broken motor belt. This is the 2nd visit this year.

Think of it this way, you give your car an oil change every so many Km. Most embroidery machines count the amount of stitches they stitch out. If you check your manual it will show you where to find it. Your service agent can tell you when you need to bring it back for its next service by your stitch count. If you are doing a lot of towels and fluffy fabrics you may need to service it more often.
