great idea to use your overlocker for the strips. I love it. PS I am also from Sth Aus. Eyre Peninsula.
Very nice bag. Thank you for sharing Happy Stitching!!
Such a cute bag!!! Such a shame to throw pieces out and you have shown us why!! Super gift ! Wish I had a serger!
Hi judyoake, Thankyou. If you look on your sewing machine you should have a overlocking stitch, you should be able to create the same effect. Or you could perhaps use a narrow rolled hem stitch.
Noone would dream these were leftovers. You've made an outstanding work of art. Like everyone else, I also love the colours you have used together.
Hi greysewist, Thankyou for your kind words. I hate to throw out my fabric pieces, you pay so much for the cotton fabric these days. I have even kept pieces as small a 1" and sewn them together. I always try and find something useful to make with the scraps.
Regards Lorraine
Thankyou everyone for you kind comments. The little purse did have Iron-on stabiliser under the strip pieces. It held it in place for when I was ready to add the Zip and the Calico Lining.
Regards Lorraine
What a clever idea. I really like the concept and the colours are lovely.
Your creative mind amazes me! I love how you serged your strips, then wove them, to make this bag. It is 'sew' pretty!
Brilliant use of left over materials. It is a lovely color combination.
Love what you have done with your leftovers. Looks beautiful.
Love the textured look! I wouldn't have thought to do this with my leftovers, is it just woven or did you use a iron on stabilizer. Marian
Beautiful. I never thought of weaving strips other than at right angles, this looks great!
Beautiful. I love the effect you have from the woven strips.
This is really beautiful Lorraine. A great way of using up scraps of fabric and the colours are all beautifully co-ordinated. Love Chris
Nice job, great to be able to use all your small scraps and left over pieces. These small zipper bags have been ideal for a lot of people to make various bags with lots of uses . Interesting to see peoples projects with them. Love the colours in yours, thanks for sharing with us. Sandra.
Great job, It is always rewarding when we can use up little pieces of left over material. Love the colors.
