Now that Thanksgiving is over for us I made the turkey stock with all the bones & made two stock pots full of Autumn goodness. This yielded me 59 quarts!

My daughter recently taught me that if I wait until the squash soup has cooled & place 2 cups in freezer bags then freeze them flat on cookie sheets not only will I save space in the freezer but when I thaw the package out it is one cup for me & one for hubs so perfect! No fuss no muss. I am really glad for this baggie tip since before I froze them in containers & it did take more room. Now once they are frozen I can stack them one on top of each other neatly in the freezer. I did forget to label all of the bags sigh..........but they will be all gone this winter anyway lol so no worries. lol that's my story & I'm sticking to it hahha

I freeze heaps of leftovers. Use a permanent texta/marker in black to write on the bags before they are filled in future.
For bags that will be used for other things - I used good old sticky tape.
For a removable sticker I fold the end under for 1/2 inch, then write the name of item on the tape while still on the dispenser. Pull tape from dispenser and apply to container or bag.
The folded over end makes for a pull-tab and removes easily when you are ready to take it off.
I write the names out a few minutes before smoothing on the containers as some times the ink doesn't dry quickly and it rubs off as you smooth the tape down.
Tape and ink do not like sticking to 'wet' aka already frozen containers and bags.
You have reminded me that I need to go empty out the stuff in my freezer to make it easier to use for real food.
Love the soup.

I do the same thing when I freeze pie pumpkins. Makes for easy storage.Takes up less space than tupperware dishes.

your squash soup looks wonderful, I taught my DH to make pumpkin soup last winter but like you I use to freeze in containers will have to show him this way. I have always frozen my mince (I think you call it ground beef) flat like this so doesn't take long to defrost never thought about my soups.. Marian

Looks wonderful and using all the stock from holiday cooking adds wonderful flavor too. If you ever have left over broth you can freeze it in an ice cube tray and once frozen put them into a zip lock bag so that during the times of year you are not cooking up holiday quantities you can pull out just the few ice cubes you need to gain that holiday flavor anytime of year. Freezing in quart sized bags is one of my favorite ways to help keep the freezer organized. Thank you for sharing your beautiful soup and freezer storage ideas. Hope your holiday was extra special.

oh Leaha this is so very good. I am lactose intolerant so to have this & be so creamy & dairy free to me is the best soup I could have & I really like it. I could eat it every day all winter long! mmm...... maybe I need to make some more so it will last me all winter long? 59 packs is only 2 months & winter last so much longer then that LOL ~hugs~
