Hi Loralye..Celene is correct...the .EMB file extension is the object file created in the Wilcom software...if you have Truesizer, this file can be enlarged or reduced to whatever size you would want...since it is not a stitch file extension like .Jef or .Pes...there is no worry about distorted, tiny, very large, etc., stitches...This .EMB file is the actual object digitized file...the new Janome MBX 5 that is coming out soon will also be able to use the .EMB file extension...just the same as the Janome .Jan format...
Here's the real trick on converting, and it's irritating. You get the best conversion with the fewest goof-ups and misread stitch types (Such as reading a satin stitch edge as 5,000 itty-bitty stitches) by using the exact same program to convert that THEY used to digitize. But, of course, you most often don't know what they used.
No, that is not true. It is not a matter of using the same program. To get the best results you have to convert the design/object file to whatever embroidery format you want. That is when stitches are allotted.
Converting the stitch files from one embroidery format to another may always give minor errors, even in the original software.
To minimize those mistakes it would help if you knew if the embroidery designs were all converted from the object file (that's what I always do) or
converted from one format (say .xxx) to a number of others - in which case you'd want to know that .xxx was the original converted one as errors add up from one conversion to another.
Hi- I wrote this comment on the post announcing the newest free Wilcom set, but am copying it here so you don't miss it - just in case you have the same issue I did when trying to open and convert the last two designs in this set in the Truesizer program:
"I cannot use the .emb format in my software or machine, so I usually convert them to pes in Wilcom's free program, Truesizer. The first three designs opened with no issues in Truesizer. However, I was getting error messages when trying to open the last two. I copied and pasted those two designs into another folder, and then was able to open those and convert them as well. Hope this helps someone."
