Thank you all for taking the time to help me. I love this site because you are all so willing to give of yourselves and your time. Thank you for helping me. I will let you all know how I make out. I am way more confident now.
Take the full width of fabric, minus the amount you will use for your seams, fold in half lengthwise (I would press this just so I could see the middle) and then fold in half lengthwise again (making sure NOT to add the seams into the "half"). You should have a long piece of fabric at this point with a small overhang for the seams. Fold it in half the other way and the corner point should be the placement for the middle of the design.
You will need to adjust the measuremnets if the middle you mean includes the cuff.
I hope this makes sense...if not, ask for clarification...or someone else might be able to help with this.
I am going to try this tonight. I will take the case apart that I have made with the embroidered cuff and get the measurements.
I agree with Leaha, I would find the centre of your pillow case and put your design there, once done then you finish off the pillowcase as directed. I'm sure with all the information listed here you will work it out. Love Chris
Go to YOUTUBE and type in Missouri Star Quilt Company. her video on the pillow cases is very helpful and will clear up any questions.
I did look at this a long time ago. I don't think she embroidered the case. That is my need now. I can make the case. Thanks for the suggestion. I love their site.
If there is a long side seam, then I would make the pillow case, don't sew the side seam, then find the center and stitch your design, then sew up the side seam.
If you are making a standard size pillowcase why couldn't you just measure the length and width and use this as your center? Or measure on of these you have already made and center off that. Or if you don't want the cuff included in the measurements just use the flat piece that is your body. Hope this helps. :) Leaha
Great idea. I will give that a try. I happen to have one already made where I embroidered the cuff.
Right one learns something new every day as I hadn't heard of the name you used. Now the answer I would embroider my design before I started on making the pillowcase. I look forwards to reading others suggestions
I want to do the embroidery before I make the case but did not know how to measure for the French seam. Thanks for your help.
