This is so lovely and truly a work of art. I'm sure the recipient of this gift will be thrilled.
Would you mind next time placing non-embroidered projects in the crafting (in this case) or sewing category under Community? That would truly help us out in the sorting for the next update. Thanks and we truly do appreciate you!
Very interesting work and thanks for the instructions that helped you create this lovely work which will be a unique present
Quite an amazing result, well done. Thanks for sharing with us, and the instructions. Sandra.
Wow, the result is excellent, you have made a very good work :-) hugs Maria
You take a photo by a digital camera. You increase the photo to 30x40 cm. In a program on your computer (I didn´t do this, had it done) you convert the photo to black, dark grey, light grey and white coloures. You take 3 fotocopies of the "new" portrait (mirror) and 1 more copy to have as a guide (not mirror) . Mark each fotocopie with the colours of the fabric to go wityh that copie. With a red Pilot Frixion pen you draw around all light grey on one fotocopie, then the dark grey ont another fotokopie and last the black ont the last fotocopie. You iron on with steam a seam each fabric to each fotocopie (wrong side) . And then you start to cut with a sharp scissor. On the light grey fabric you cut out all white that is on your fotocopie. When that is done you take away the steam a seam and put it on your batting with the white fabric (on back you have ironed clue paper , don´t know what the name is. Bur it is the glue the white fabric on the batting). All fabrics should have the size of the finished portrait. After the light grey you do the same with the dark grey and then the black fabric. DO.NOT IRON UNTIL THE END. When you have the whole portrait done and you don´t want to change anything, then you iron with a cloth over the portrait. Hope you understand how I did it.
Great instructions! I appreciate how you detailed how you did this. Something to try my hand at. Thanks!
Did you use the photo fabric available to do this? Could you please explain how this worked? I'm thinking about making a memory quilt using photos and have been reluctant to try it. Thanks for your help. --Sandra
