Today's project, a lined ITH coin purse from Oma's Place. I have mixed emotions about this one. I think that the front is really cute and the appliqued fringed flower is part of the design. But the quilted back is 4.5 in. square and the front is 5 in. square so it doesn't match up quite right. There are stitching lines that I would prefer to have hidden. Then the back has a pocket which is not quilted so it covers up some of the quilting on the back. If I make it again I think I will pre-quilt the pocket piece which would add another hooping to the project but make it so much nicer.

Colors and bag are pretty.

It really is a nice outcome and the combination of the two fabrics is just perfect. Maybe you might try using prequilted fabric for this. That way the outside pocket would be quilted too.

Love the fabric and colors that you have chosen. That is the cutest little flower as well. Nice job on your project.

It is so adorable. How about putting the pocket inside.

That is another option.. I am going to do another and consider all the suggestions that have been made.

Really do like the fringe flower. I believe you should let her know your complaints. Maybe then she will fix the problems/Lillian

I've made it also and I don't like the back pocket covering the quilting either, why quilt it in the first place then cover it with a plain pocket. When I made it in denim I just left the pocket off

I think the pocket was added to cover up what would have been an outside seam opening but it could have been constructed differently so the seam opening was on the inside in the lining. The more you do the more you learn.

I love the fringe flower, really love it all but I can see where it could be confusing with sizing not matching up.

Great job, and I agree with Carolyn let them know about the covering up of the quilting and the difference in size. It's still a cute purse, I've never tried the fringing as I'm afraid mine would unravel! Well done, love Chris

No, Chris. It is held in place by lots of stitches before you cut the fringing stitches. They are SUCH fun - go try one!

Write them and tell them about the back and front being a different size.

Love the front of it. I guess I would have not have quilted the back but definitely quilted that smaller section where the scissors can be stored.
All in all though it is lovely.

I like your idea of not quilting the full back piece but quilting the pocket instead. Or if I do quilt the back piece I will use another design from my files. It wasn't until I was putting it together that I discovered that the back was smaller than the front.

it looks lovely. Do you think the back is smaller so the front will wrap around it, giving it depth? Either way it looks quite pretty ~hugs~

The outside stitching is not hidden in the seam. It is like that all the way around. I don't know why that would be
