Thanks for the reminder. What I will do is in each folder I have , I'll make a notepad file " read this first" and paste this text in it. And download the tags. All the designers are right to protect their work. For sure it takes lots of time and testing before a desgin is ready.
Sonia has made it easy for us. She has made two tags under Designs to Print that are FREE! Just put them in your basket and you will get the downloadable file. I print them out on pastel cardstock, punch a small hole and tie it on the item with a coordinating ribbon. Hope this helps. Avis
Thanks for sharing ... it's ALWAYS good to know and be reminded - FIESTA ANYHOW ;D
thanks ever for this reminder tip as I purchased some to sell, I shall certainly remember this tip...And so she should get all the credit, as her designs are just simply stunning.
With the popularity of sites such as Etsy, I can understand why she has so many restrictions. However, with so many different websites and differing policies, it becomes very difficult to remember whether or not you can resize a design or even merge them. I have designs from 106 different websites. If the websites would put their "terms and conditions" in a downloadable PDF file that I could just put it each site's folder, it would be a tremendous help to us who want to follow them. In the meantime, I now have started to avoid buying designs that have restrictions that prohibit me from doing things that I commonly do such as merging.
I do exactly as you have suggested. It's really quite simple. Just hold your mouse down over the parts that you will need to be compliant, right click on it and then click copy. Open a word document. Using your keyboard, hold down CTRL+V and then save it to your corresponding folder.
With Sonia Showalter's designs, she has also added in bold to her terms and conditions
EDITING ANY OF THESE DESIGNS AND COMBINING WITH OTHER DESIGNS IS NOT PERMITTED. THERE IS NO RESTRICTION WITH ADDING TEXT.
You may not even stitch just portions of one of her designs and add portions of the same or another of her designs- or move a portion of a design, as I have requested that in the past few months as I wanted to make the Citadel Q easier for me to recognize by moving the line that usually crosses through the letter down to the lower right at an angle. Quoting a portion of her response to me-
"There is a reference to “editing”, which would include changing the original design. Even using the same pieces, it is still changing the design. I don’t give permission for that because whatever the final result is, it will represent my work."
With every design be sure to read each sites terms and conditions. If in doubt, email and ask permission. Oh but the dreams I had in using her frames especially the current one around cute animals for a baby quilt. With these conditions, even with her towel poncho you could not add an embroidery design of beach toys or a child's favorite animal to the poncho, just lettering. I would have also loved to stitch out her greenery from the Winter pines to create a large wreath. They are her designs, and her conditions but it does keep my creativity clipped and I keep wanting to soar.
When you go to Sonia's Site in her list is Designs to Print. There are bookmarks, cards and tags. She has two product tags are for attaching to items using her designs. They are very nice and there isn't any charge for them. Just put in your cart and checkout and she gives you the print files for the product tags.
Great I will surely get a couple of these. thanks.
I have not stitched any to sell as yet.
This is important and I suggest others read it too
Many digitizers have similar requirements. I think many Cuties might be surprised at the number of requirements there are when selling a stitched design...
Yes, it is so confusing and hence so terrifying to try to sell or put pics online to sell.
I do not understand when they say only few or 25 numbers could be sold. How do I prove that - if I have sold few and digitiser accuses me of mass production?
