I have just been thinking about the troubles I have been having with my machine. The Janome 12000 & was wondering if anyone else out there uses pre-wound bobbins? I bought a case of them & have been using them in this machine & wonder if that might be the issue?

I have used pre wound bobbins both paper siding and plastic and love both. I understand from previous post here, that some have trouble with their machines with various brands of threads. My only advise is if your machine doesn't like it , don't use it.

I have just read both of your posts and it sure sounds frustrating!! I had one machine that just did not like prewound bobbins so I wound one onto one of the bobbins that came with my machine and it worked fine. Sort of defeated the purpose of haven bobbins at the ready but that thread is finer so I did get a lot on the regular bobbin Just like us, machines seem to have different quirks! The machine I have now is fine with prewounds. Did you try a different spool of thread? When I have trouble now it is often just that thread. Good luck solving your problems.

I love prewound bobbins; have been buying NEBS from Allstitch.Net, since I first began machine embroidery. I have a Brother single needle and a commercial fifteen needle. They both stitch well with prewound bobbins!

I only use pre wound in my Bernina. Never had any problems. I do find that I cannot use the bobbin right to the end but they seem to last forever. I buy them in boxes of 148. They have cardboard ends and are a size L. I do not think I have been much help

Can you please tell me where you get them from? I am in East London and I can only get the ones without the cardboard. They will work well in a drop bobbin case as the other ones wobble around. If you are not allowed to mention the shop, please pm me. Lynette

I use pre-wounds from Metro Embroidery with no problem on my BabyLock Ellisimo...I use the 15A bobbins which are the same type that Janome machines use...I also use them on my Janome 8000 with no problems...they are also the same ones for many Brother machines, too...I can use the "L" type bobbins, too...but they require the little spacer be put under the bobbin case as the "L" type bobbins are ever so slightly narrower than the 15A class bobbins...

I have Nebs bobbins and those from MetroEmb. I have used them in a Babylock Ellageo and Ellegante, and Brother 270 with no problems. I got size A for the Ellegante and the Brother, but can use the L size with the adaptor, or a dime underneath.
It all has to do with the bobbin case tension, what it's set for. That's why the Ellegante has 2 cases for different types of thread. I also have no problem using the top thread in the bobbin for fsl.

If the problem started when you used the pre wounds that could be the reason, Make sure to mention it to your repairman when you speak to him,. This is a bad time of year to be without your machine. Hopefully it comes home soon

your so right Bev, But I worry if I tell him that he might just put it down to that without checking to see if it might be something else?

graceandham by graceandham 05 Nov 2015

You could take him 2-3 bobbins and have him set the tension specifically for them. (My tech will do that.)

I bought them online @ Amazon, & they say specifically what machines can use them & fit correctly Janomes were on the list. But since I didn't use them in the past I have to wonder if this is the root cause of the issues I am having with the bobbin & case jumping up. Sue yes I have 2 bobbin cases one for straight stitch embroidery designs & one for standard sewing. I seem to recall that only Janome bobbins work in the Janome machines but my memory isn't what it was & I am not sure if I am right or just seeking answers to as the why it is doing this?

It is the thread that matters. Do you have a bobbin case with a yellow spot? That is for other brands of bobbin thread. I think you may be confusing the functions of the two bobbin cases with those for the two needle plates.

Never used a pre wound bobbin in my life :) as its not even available around for me....lol! Anyway I prefer to wind my own bobbins!
I never had any thread issues with my janome mc350e where as I dont have access to any of the branded threads! I just use what I get and they work just fine! I think this is really a great benefit of having a janome, they are not fussy about threads! :)
Why dont you just not use the pre wound for sometime and see if it makes things better...I hope it does :)
Do let us know!

I use only pre wound bobbins on my Babylock 10 needle and have no problems. They are specific to the machine. You might check with your dealer if they sold you the right ones.

Are they Janome thread? If not you would need to use a different bobbin case. I have one with my 15000, but I'm not sure if you do.

Are you using a Bobbin Center Pin for Pre-wound Bobbins?
I have a Baby Lock but in order to use pre-wound bobbins, I have to use the center pin

I did read that some Janome machines have issues with pre-wound bobbins that are not from Janome.

I don't have the same machine but I do use the pre wound bobbins. I have to replace them when they are about half used as they cause problems otherwise. I then wind the rest of the thread onto a plastic bobbin and use it that way. I don't seem to have problems with the plastic bobbins. I bought one type of pre wounds and thought they were the correct type they didn't work. In the long run its cheaper to wind ones own but more convenient to use the ready made ones. Its going to be interesting to see what others say to your question
