Toogie, don't be so critical of yourself. I think it is grand! Every one else will feel the same Hugs /Lillian
Toogie, This is the one that I did with the hat hoop that my brother made for me. It's not perfect, but the hoop certainly works! The design is a logo for a band that my brother loves... I had permission from the band to make this. My brother was thrilled with this. As I commented earlier, I simply used a pointy stick to press down as I stitched close to that bill seam and that allowed me to get the design just where I wanted it. I didn't use sticky stabilizer for this one, so the outlines are a little out of whack, so definitely would do that for the next one as the top part of the design tended to wiggle a bit.
Yours looks good! I'm not sure if the opening was bigger would help me. I can't explain but if you come over, I'll show you. Thanks again and I like the band design!
Hi Toogie, I think it looks great and your brother in law likely does too. My brother made me one of those hat hoop inserts from a clipboard, and so to thank him, I did a couple of hats for him (sorry.... I didn't load them here on projects). I had a little bit of issues with the first one, but had him make the opening a bit bigger so that my foot wouldn't hit anything, and when I got close to the bill, I used a pointy stick to make sure it was as flat as I could get it. That got me closer to the bill. I'll poke around and see if I have a pic of the second hat... I know I don't have the first one... ha! Your design is bigger than the one that I used (mine was wider and not so tall), so that made a difference as well. --Sharon
It is a great design to use on that cap. We tend to be overly self-critical. I'm sure he'll love it and wear it a lot!
I think it looks great - you are to hard on yourself!
Great hat! I've only done one and that was in the late 1990's when I received my 3 free lessons from Husq shop. Never tried one again.
Well done. I made the cap hoop but haven't tried it out yet. This may be the inspiration that I need to get started.
I hope you like it better than I do-lol-now that's not encouraging you, is it?-lol-go for it really, this is my 3rd try............
That is a stunning Deer, dear Toogie!!! Well done, love Chris
Thank you Chris was a freebie from Embroidery is Free, I think. I used it on the camo tee pee I made. I'll refresh your memory by adding the link if I can. I know you saw it there, I'm sure. Loved the dress you just made Delphi for the wedding!
Looks great. That pinch is so tiny no one would notice without a point out.
Very stunning on such a lovely bright cap, well done. Sandra.
Thanks Sandra, the hunters have to wear this bright orange, so other hunters see them.
It looks great. Would not have noticed unless you had pointed the pinch out.
Great hunting cap. Your BIL will love it. Oh, and that "pinch" is so small, no one will notice it. Terrific job.
It looks really nice to me, I don't know if I'll ever attempt a hat.
Jo
You have done such a great job on this Toogie :)
Love your design, perfect colors and placement!
I know how tricky caps are....not fond of doing them myself!
Specially I find the middle seam a nightmare...didnt you have any problem with it?
I just went slow in that area. My only main problem was this cap was so rounded, I couldn't get the fabric flat, hence, the pinch. Thanks for looking.
I think it looks great. I've never embroidered on a cap to much of a scarredy cat.
