I am sure this has been asked many times but I have searched under so many terms and still none the wiser.

Is there an easy way to view jef files as thumbnails in windows 8? I am happy to download/purchase something as long as it works.

I need to sort my embroidery files before my collection gets any larger but I have so many that I have downloaded and not renamed so I have no idea what they are. I am thinking some kind of embroidery file viewer would help.

Any ideas??

Thank you for all the replies. I have downloaded my editor with reasonable results but I think I will try a couple of the others mentioned as I would like something that just works without me having to open it each time I look through my designs.

I too am using SEWICONZ. I have Windows 8.1 and 10, my format is JEF and I have no problems. Once you purchase this, it is yours to keep. Just remember where you put your download code if you need to use it on another computer. They also have great support should you need help.

I use Embrilliance Thumbnailer, and am very happy with it. I am using Windows 7 Used to use the Iconizer in Embird but Embird was not happy on my Windows 7. Hugs Shirley Tasmania

I use SewIconz, from sands computing. $25, which is not a great deal of money. Sees unzipped files in a folder, and files in a zip (as long as they are NOT in a folder) . Sees icons of designs-hovering over the design or opening a side window shows you the stitch count, size, and # of colors. I have used this for quite a while and am happy with this, and some of their other products. Great support if you have any questions. Plus, on the site, you can read up on it, and dl the user guide for further info before you choose.

Hi,
I'm not sure about windows 8, but I'm using a plugin that works just fine in windows 7. the name of it is Iconizer. maybe it works in windows 8 too.

I have been using that for awhile but now it keeps freezing. I did find it very good at the start.

I just tho't! If you want a free program, I also have (besides Emb Thumbnailer) the Wings' MY EDITOR on my desktop that is WIN 10....so I know if it works on 10, it should do fine on 8. However, this is a program you have to open to use. But it also changes formats, edits(resizes, deletes parts, does stitch ribbon, etc). Use this one almost daily.

I use Embrilliance Thumbnailer and it shows all file formats. At present it is $39.95 US. You also have a choice for Windows or Mac computers.
You can also purchase it from Echidna Australia $59.95.

This is the program I use--love it!--runs all the time in background. You can set for one format thumbnail, or all of them. Mine is set for .pes so when I open a d/l folder, my format shows as image and ready for me to send to category folder.

Go look at the Floriani or RNK sites. They are due to be putting out a new version of their file viewer in November. Mine was $99 but I purchased it at an event, so it was $69. It was well worth it to get organized. Works great and works "in the background" so I never think about it - why I can't pull up the name of it right now! There is a more complex and expensive product that has some other abilities, such as resizing and I think changing formats, but you probably just want the first one I mentioned.
