I can do that with my PE Design v5 software with writer box, then save them to CD.. I can also read several brands of cards with my Magic Box Plus and save the designs to my computer's hard drive, and save to CD or jump drive . PE Basic will not save to computer. I guess you could be looking for a reader/writer box that will save to hard drive instead of just transferring. Ck out the different ones at Allbrands.com. If you were close to me, ....I should add1 since WIN upgrades, my PE Design is only compatible with WIN7, the Magic plus is in my XP laptops & I have not tried with later windows. You should also determine if any will install to your OS.
Don't know about Brother but I had Pfaff 2140 before which used cards. It could be be connected to computer too with the software. Hence I had transfered all its card designs on computer.
So if there is a software which creates a bridge between computer and machine you can.
Mine has a usb too but I don't know how to transfer the designs to my computer using this method. I've never used it since I have the PED Basic & the memory card.
It's a pity PEDbasic does not recognise the Brother embroidery cards, only the special write-on one supplied with the reader/writer. I think that is a way to prevent illegal copying.
Do you just want to name your cards? The cards always came with documentation - thumbnail views and colour sequence and numbers. Does not that help?
I wanted to put the names of my grandchildren and great nieces & nephews that I always make items for each holiday. Also, some are small enough to combine. I can only do that if the design is on my computer.
Depends what sort of memory card it,is, help us out with exactly what type of card it is. Then we may be able guide you in the right way. Where do you live that will also depend what you can get to help you out. Sandra.
They are mostly brother and a couple that were ordered online. Not sure what they are. I live at Lovely, Kentucky.
If they are Brother cards I am sure that you cannot add anything to the design. You could perhaps stitch the design out and then add your names if you have the software to do this. Your machine probably has a few fonts as well.
have you got a card writer, you can import though it, or can you connect your machine to computor by usb plug, then you could import sorry thats all I know...wendy
