My 500E has no trouble with threads but I hate the needle threader. I have tried always to thread. When I lock the machine I have to move the needle even though it says it is OK . I thread by hand 80% of the time

Sorry to hear about the needle threader, is the foot always DOWN when you thread. My dealer told me this, thread through the tensions Put the foot DOWN no problems. Sandra.

Which brand of needles are you using, Raels? I seemed to have trouble getting the schmetz to line up properly for threading, but the Organ needles seem to work fine. There is a small threader about the size of a quickunpic that you can get from Janome shops that I have found to be good, or I'll hold a white piece of paper behind the needle to make it easier for me to see where to put the the thread -but maybe your eyesight is better than mine :)

I am using organ needles which are supplied with machine. Always have foot down. I have tried everything. Dealer says to check with them when they come back from Christmas break which isn't until next week

for the price you pay for this machine you shouldn't have to thread by hand. It's bad enough we have to pay so much for the extra hoops Just ordered the B hoop for $149

sandralane by sandralane 05 Jan 2016

I just picked up my b hoop and the other hoop not supplied is $129 , also my needles supplied were Janome size 11 and 14 five of each.We should have got all the hoops supplied in the price., but was pleased with the bundlefree gifts i did receive. Sandra.

No freebies with my machine

sandralane by sandralane 06 Jan 2016

You should have received free gifts some were from Janome themselves, and some more extras from my dealer with on going lessons as many as i want. My dealers staff is fantastic. Where do you live i would take it up with your dealer snd query why you did not get some thing extra. Sandra.

The store I got mine from wasn't offering free gifts but I said I can buy the machine with gifts for the same price about 20 klms away will you match them. They checked what was on offer and said yes.
So I would go back and ask at the store or contact Janome.

My 500E is so much pickier than my 300E ever was. So far it doesn't like either Isacord or Sulky thread, too many breaks and I do use bobbin thread. I totally hate the new threader. I guess I am just too used to the old machine. Good luck with your new machine!!

Are your problems with the threader because you are not putting the foot down to thread. MUST always be down. Are you using janome bobbin thread and have you also when threading the top thread winding around twice, very slippery thread three times. Maybe some of these things may help you. Sandra.

My 500e came for christmas, already used up the first lot of Janome bobbin thread which came with the machine. I am now using echidna bobbin thread with the yellow dot bobbin case, have not had any problems so far with either thread. Top thread is Marathon from Melbourne Australia made in korea vibrant shiny colours, also disaccord from Clarkes Melbourne made in Germany, also Birch polyester from spotlight stores and a few odd ones which i can't remember the name of at the moment. Have had no trouble with any of these threads at all, I have not altered any of the settings, except this morning i did adjust the low bobbin thread to 0.5. When the warning comes low thread, you do not have enough thread to finish the project, there was always too much bobbin thread left and would not continue until you changed the bobbin. I will now see how much thread this leaves in the bobbin, trial and error i guess to expensive to leave thread on bobbins. So far this is the only thing i think needs changing in my opinion, i do hope that you will love the new machine as much as i do, i am thrilled so far. This is my second machine i have had an elna 8600 xplore sewing and embroidery for some years and wanted larger hoops, this also uses the same threads with no problems ever. If i can help you in any way, send me a pm Sandra.

I managed to accidentally use the wrong sized needle to embroider on dog collar webbing and each letter is a mass of loops -the machine speed was also faster than I'd normally do this style of project with, so a couple of other things for you to check :)

I have the 500e and have set up a hoop stand for the larger reels of thread but have found I need to use it for some of the squat reels as well. I have had problems with the needle threader as well but only on some brands as I guess some are thinner than others.
I am yet to find a Red in my supply that the machine likes. Try slowing down the speed and see if this makes a difference. I was told the other bobbin case was for when you don't use the Janome bobbin thread.
It is a beautiful machine and does a great job I think we look a lot closer at it's work than we did with our old one.

Some machines are simply picky about threads, other machines will do well with all threads, and sometimes a machine will dislike just one color of thread too. Most problems can be overcome by tweaking the tension settings. Be sure to ask the teacher how to change the bobbin setting too.

Sound like a tension problem. Alll machine manufacturers set their bobbin tension for their own brand of bobbin thread. My Ellegante has two different bobbin cases to use. And I still loosen the top tension because it seems to look better. Remember the 1/3 bobbin,1/3 top,1/3 bobbin thread showing on the back. FOXY in all caps is a good word to use to check that out, using a basic machine font.

Congratulations on your new machine...I hope you get your thread problems figured out...have you tried another brand yet...suggest you use a built in design and do some tests...that way you will know it is not being created from a designed you purchased that might have a digitizing problem...

see if you have the right bobbin thread, some have to have a certain bobbin thread. I have baby lock and use metro and sulky.

I am using the bobbin the janome dealer sold me.

lilylyn by lilylyn 03 Jan 2016

Is it Janome bobbin fill or another brand. I have Janomes and they always embroider best with the Janome Bobbin fill. Hope this helps.

sandralane by sandralane 04 Jan 2016

You should have two bobbin cases one for Janome thread and one with a yellow dot for other brands of bobbin fill thread. Sandra.

Congrats on your new machine! So sorry you are having thread problems. So far, I have used RobisonAnton Poly and Floriani in my new 500E with no problems (using an external thread stand). As you know, the machine came with an extra bobbin holder. I have not experimented with that yet, but am wondering if that might help your problem. Just a thought. Hope you find the answer and have lots of time to "play" with your new baby. Hugs, Cece
