THis stitchout is awesome - you had to have a lot of determination to finish this major project. I have the same problem with puckering on the Tshirts I work with - even after washing and drying and stabilizing both sides. I don't know if the thread shrinks a bit (I use polyester) or if the bottom tension needs to be reduced???? Any ideas anyone?
I really think in this case it was the black stitching. In most cases I think we choose the wrong design for the weight of the fabric. I have found with t-shirts I use the no show nylon stabilizer and have had great success.
Maybe designs should also include fabric suggestions and maybe even stabilizer weights. This is may help you from Urban Threads.

That's gorgeous. You might spritz some starch onto it so that it's damp and pin it down onto some type of cardboard to get it into shape and let it dry on it's on. (I've had to do that before and it works).
Love those designs and the colours, your friend will love it.
Hugs, Lidia
Wow, I went there for the designs and they don't even list any. Did I go to the wrong site? Yours is just so pretty and you did a wonderful job with it. Hugs and blessings, Penny in TN.
This was from Secret's of Embroidery I tried to link it but it didn't work.
It's lovely. I think when we make things we are our own worst critics. I'm sure your friend will love it.
I love w hat you have done and the tenacity you had to work it out. Congratulations on a job well done/Lillian
I think its GORGEOUS! I KNOW your friends will like it, its so pretty. Love the colors, fabric and threads, too.
That is gorgeous.. They will love it the lovely gift.
I would not have thought to put a topper on cotton. Thank for that tip. appreciate all comments about how different people stabilize.
At a class one time an embroidery professional told me to press on the back side with hot iron will get rid of puckers. I've done this and I can say--sometimes that helps and sometimes no. I prewash and dry everything and use adequate stabilization so I am still clueless.
When you press the backside, do it with the face of the design into a towel so that you don't flatten your embroidery.
This was a lot of work, but your results are fabulous! This is a very lovely topper. Whenever working with 100% cotton, it is always good to preshrink the fabric. I also put two layers of vilene on top of the fabric too in addition to a bottom stabilizer . That little bit of extra washaway stabilizer adds a tiny bit of extra space to the stitching so that the threads have more space to relax. I find it helps to reduce purckering
Thanks , I did steam press the fabric before , that should reduce the shrinkage, but never thought of the topping.
wonderful placement & I'm sure they will enjoy it for many years to come ~hugs~
Beautifully done...love the design and your placement is perfect...look a bit like linen..is it? I know when I stitch on linen or even cotton, I really have to starch the daylights out of it...and then with linen I don't even need stabilizer unless the design is very dense...did you starch your fabric first?
Yes, it's not linen but a heavy cotton. I really think it's the doodle design in the pattern that was the problem.
That must have been difficult to line everything up. Turned out beautifully!
When thinking about how to get it right off the edge I hemmed it first. Then when I printed the templates I trimmed them all to 1 1/2 inch and lined that on the bottom of the hem edge. Since now the edge was within the hooping I tack the stabilizer onto the fabric, using a straight line drawn on the stabilizer. Then it all just worked.
What a wonderful gift for a very good friend. I enlarged the photo and it is sooo beautiful.
Your friend will love this. The colors are terrific. Did you try steam pressing? This has happened to some of my projects as well, but generally flatten once I wash and/or steam press.
nice looking ,love those little flowers it happened to me too....
