Hello Cuties, I was wondering...

Has anyone ever done the cross stitch designs on towels? Were you successful, if you did?

A lady has been wanting me to emb a ballerina or dance design, on a hooded towel for her little g-daughter, and this design that is up at Becky's site is adorable.

dragonflyer has put a link for the design.

I have done cross stitch on towels and put WSS over top. Always worked well.

When I saw the ballerina, I thought about that towel...I'll let you know if and when I do it.

Not on a terry towel, but consider doing it on material and appliqueing that onto the towel.

Yes, with a design with very small, close cross stitches and 2 layers of WSS for extra lofting. Looked great.

A real question. By all means test stitch on similar towel or fabric. In my mind , I say no, but try a sample see what happens. Kay

I have not done it with x stitch, but often use tulle instead of WSS when embroidering on fluffy towels. The tulle tears away just like the toppers, but remains in the towel structure.

Hi Toogie...I have done a lot of cross stitch on towels...all have been very successful...keep in mind if you do any lettering...you would want to stay away from the cross stitch single outline type letters like are done in samplers...but a regular cross stitch design should work out well...PM me if you want any more information...I just looked at the Ballerina...there are some run line little swirl details that might not show up very well and sink down in the loops of the towel...I might leave those off, depending upon how thick the towel is...or you could use an embossed frame and put her inside of it...

Sounds good.

no, not x stitch, but I did a small 'line-work' or Stick person on the non-fluffy bit on the end part of a hand towel. It was good, but would not have shown up on the actual fluffy part of the towel.
