I would use PvZ. My ex son-in law was Philip van den B - the usual (American) rules for 3-letter monograms would not work. I did the v d on top of each other.
Thai is rather a difficult one as the van Zyl is the surname. My daughters first marriage was to a van Zyl and when I made her some towels I also used the van in the middle with a smaller V than the other initials. Sarah (Knysna)
Check out monograms in Designs in Machine Embroidery- Eileen's Blog. There are no rules set in stone these days. I suggest you play around with different configurations to see what appeals to you. Perhaps PvZ in some form. Hugs. Nan W
I learned that this would be PvZ, as you capitalized it, so you wouldn't use the round font types where the last name is in the center. Philip van der Water would be PvdW.

I hope this helps
sorry I have no clue about the "van" perhaps some of the old comments here at cute can help you out, good luck and let us know your solution for future reference - happy stitching
In our country we have a lot of surnames starting with van ie. van Werkhoven, van Rooyen , even with van der Berg etc
I wish I could help, but I am rather curious myself.
