I have a Janome 300 E. I haven't used it a lot till now. I am trying to format a new memory card. It tell me this: ATA PC Memory Card Error FAT error in the card

then it asks if I want to format the card. when I click OK it says: ATA PC card error occurred while processing

What do I do???

very occasionally the fat error will come up when the card is not quite fully into the machine- other times it can be because a clipart format or picture is on the card and it cannot read it- other times cards do become faulty

I have the 300E machine and had a card that just stopped working for some reason. Try a new card. Just put it in the machine and it will format it.
What country are you in? As the cards are harder to come by now someone may be able to direct you to a supplier if you can't get a replacement.
Hope you return to let us know if you have solved your problem or not.

Hi and Welcome djw, have you had a chance to look on the Janome web site they may have a answer to your dilemma there. I also have a 300E but with my new cards I didn't have to format them from memory do you use the Customizer to transfer your designs. Marian

Welcome to cute, where there is always someone to help you with your problems. I have an Elna which occasionally has that message . Yes you want to format FAT, make a emb folder as aussiequilter says. Copy and paste or click and drag your designs to your machine from your folder and it should work for you.Your card maybe however damaged if it does not work, you can ask or go to a Janome dealer and they can usually help you also. There is lots of information in Q&A it is very helpful to read this section as there are so many questions with answers to all areas of this site. Sandra.

Welcome djw. When I first got my Janome 300e. I placed the card in the slot on the machine and it formatted it for me and put the embf5 folder. Then all I had to do was drag the design that I wanted to embroidery to the card. You will need a card reader and make sure that your computer allows you to safely eject the card before removing it from the card reader.

Welcome DJW, I can't help either as I have Husqvarnas and Brother Sewing machines. I know there are a lot of Janome users on here and I'm sure someone will be able to help you. Because this website is from USA there are also different time zones to consider when people will answer. For example it's 1.00pm Monday afternoon as I reply to this messag that you posted just over 2 hours ago. Good luck and I wish you welcome. Love Chris, Newcastle, Australia
