I have a Ruby and the largest hoop it takes is 360x200. The 300 by 240 is too wide for this machine. Your software version 4991-6335 is the latest version (Nov 2013).

Hi gloflosmith, when I looked up the Husqvarna Ruby, the largest size hoop is a 360x200. I don't think your machine will accept a wider and longer hoop, but I may be wrong. I have a Brother Machine and I have that hoop 360x240 (91/2 x 14 inches). It's a huge hoop!
I have the Husqvarna Designer 1 and my largest hoop is 400x170 (inside hoop size).

Good luck with your machine and I hope it will all work out for you. Love Chris, Newcastle Australia.

Here are a couple of things you can try: When you are putting on the hoop, make sure you hear it click into place. Do not push it in farther than the point at which you hear the click. If you still get an error message, look for lint or threads in the track on the arm where the hoop slides into. If your other hoops work without issues, another possibility is that the clip on this particular hoop is broken.

Here is the link to Viking's Designer Ruby page. It lists the latest update, which is the one you have, gives a link for the download, and includes instructions on how to do it. If this machine was mine, after trying all the above first, I would download the latest update again and reinstall it. I have read that sometimes this fixes issues.

Scroll down the page to see additional items you may want to download, such as the manual, if you don't already have it.

After that, go into the hoops section and make sure you have a check mark next to every hoop that you own. Even if you have the latest update, you will not have the option to use a particular hoop you own unless it is also checked on the hoop list.
If all this fails, your machine may need service. You need to take both the machine and the arm in.
Hope this helps.

I have a ruby and have no trouble using the large hoop from the day I bought the machine. I would be taking the machine to the dealer and ask them to show you and see if it does the same thing. Or as it has been suggested below do the latest download from Husqvarna even if it is the same as you have already it may be a hic cup and if it wont recognise the hoop take it in. And by the way I love my Ruby!

I have a Ruby; it does not recognize your stated hoop size. However, I have not updated my software.

I purchased a 3-position Mega Hoop (360 x 150 mm) to use with my previous Platinum Plus that also is not recognized by the Ruby. It also suggests my older 100 x 100 hoop may not be not fully compatible. Maybe a future upgrade will be available.

Visit Husqarna's website where you will be able to check the latest software version number for your machine and download it as well.
If the hoop size appears under hoops but the machine doesn't recognize it, it could be due to a sensor that needs to be adjusted.

Welcome to Cute embroidery, you will find lots of helpful ladies here.
The machine does use the 360 x 200 as I have the ruby but don't use it anymore for embroidery. I did not have a good experience with this machine. Have you tried doing the upgrade on your machine through husqvarna sometimes that will help. If that does not work, I would take it to a dealer as there is clearly something wrong with it.
Good Luck

You might have to upgrade your embroidery unit in order to recognize
the larger hoop. Maybe your dealer can help you, but the bigger hoops are for the bigger machines and if your is not, you must replace your unit. Maybe your machine's software can be upgraded to recognize the hoop. One of these methods will help.

Did you check your manual to see if , in fact, this hoop is one that your machine will accept. It sounds to me like it might be a bit wider-the 200- than will fit. If the manual lists it look for the hoop icon when you load a design, click on it and a drop down menu should come up, scroll down to the 306x200 and click on it to add it to the list of your hoops. Hope this is clear, I am not at my machine so kind of guessing what I would do.
