Beautiful tea towel. I love how your ribbon came out. It looks lifelike.
Sorry about the restaurant. It's so sad to have beloved places pass away.
Saw it on TV last night the lady was lucky to get out she lived upstairs. Seems there were apartments up there and a tenant said the pilons were held together with straps. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen. Lucky no one was hurt.
Your Holly looks great did you leave the machine turned on when you went out?
Hi Barb, yes, the lady was very lucky, I believe she had to jump out and swim to safety. No, I never leave my machine on - too many things could go wrong. Love Chris
Chris, i have not been to this restaurant but it looks a lovely place. Mostly we get Victorian news here, so i had not heard of this happening, so sad for all concerned. Your christmas wreath is just stunning, your table will look absolutely wonderful again, as it always does. Sandra.
Thanks Sandra, yes, this restaurant is just beautiful and I always look forward to going there. It's only about a 10 minute car ride from my place and Lake Mac as we locals call it is a really picturesque Lake. Thanks for commenting on the wreath, it's a bit too stitch intensive for me, I'm going to see if I can find one a bit less busy. Love Chris
Glad to see you back embroidering. Hope the new chair helps. I saw where that building collapsed on TV last night. Such a pity. Hugs Shirley
Hi Shirley, yes, the chair is helping. I think all of Australian Capital cities have shown the footage. It's been such an icon here on Lake Macquarie. It's just such a pretty area and the amount of weddings held there and the view - it's just so disheartening for the owners. Love Chris
Meant to say hope you are feeling a bit better and hopefully the new chair will work out.
Thanks Liliana, the chair is great and I'm gradually getting better day by day. I see the Professor on Thursday and cannot wait to find out where to go from here! Love Chris
I love these old places. They have such warmth to them. It is sad for everyone to see it removed.
I love your wreath, especially the bowl It has such dimension to it!
Thanks Penny, yes, I agree with you. Thanks for commenting on the wreath as well. Love Chris
That is sad...Looks like such a lovely place!!!Awesome design..Well done
Thanks Sonja, yes, it was a beautiful place, so serene looking out over our beautiful Lake Macquarie. Thanks for commenting on the design too. Love Chris
That wreath is lovely. It must be quite a big design is it? What are you making with it?
We saw this on the news here in the west. I can't believe the sinking problem was not picked up before. I guess sometimes these things happen. I feel sad for everyone involved including those living above the restaurant unable to gather their belongings due to safety issues. I hope they will be able to get them somehow. Hopefully those that have their weddings booked will be able to find somewhere just as beautiful.
Hi Karryn, the wreath design was made in the 5x7 hoop! It is a large design. I just heard on the 8.30am news that it looks as though the building is going to be completely demolished. I don't know how the people who lived upstairs are going to retrieve their things, and the Marina on the bottom left of the building the man who works there said everything was halfway in water! All of his printers, computers, historic things etc. It's a real shame. I think there is going to be a lot of "who is to blame" over this. Love Chris
It is sad about your favorite place. Mother nature has taken a lot.
I am glad you are up to stitching again and your result is fantastic. Hoping for continued healing.
Thanks Angie, yes, I hope it can be relocated somewhere on the Lake. I'm feeling better day by day, I love my new chair and thanks for commenting on the tea towel. I can't wait to get back to feeling normal - it's been a long time! Love Chris
Wow you would think they could put posts under it ti rise it up???So sad Love you wreath glad you are feeling some better hugs
I think that is one of the problems Carolyn. The Lake has been dredged quite frequently and this may have eroded the sand. Thanks for the comments about the wreath and the fact that I'm feeling better. Just heard on the radio that more piers have been collapsing into the Lake this morning. It's going to be completely demolished apparently. Love Chris
Christmas, of course. It is lovely. Glad to hear about the chair, but it can't do all the work...
Thanks Betsey, I usually start sewing for my ladies luncheon in January, but with the way I've been feeling, I couldn't face it. Feeling better day by day. I'm off to see the Professor on Thursday and we'll work out a pain management regime I hope. I'm so pleased with the chair. Love Chris
Your wreath is perfectly stitched (and digitized).A lot of stitches but a beautiful finish. What will it be?..... I'm glad I read all the post below, before I commented, as my first question was to ask if there were any injuries. I also am glad you have a photo of this (hope you have one before the collapse too) because there are places from my younger days that are no longer here and I wish I had photos of it 'how it was back then'.-Toogie
Thanks Toogie it's a tea towel. I've only got 7 to go! I think I'll use a smaller stitch count on another design I've got. Yes, we have pictures of before - it's been an icon on the Lake. The owners are just beside themselves. Love Chris
I can't even imagine about the owners, trying to rebuild....would be awful if they couldn't, but would be so expensive, in today's cost to rebuild.....I really hope they can, such a pretty place.
I'm glad Trevor made a good decision with the chair. I agree that 10 to 15 minutes sessions are a good idea. and it's amazing how much you can get done working this way. It's a beautiful design to do even if it takes 2 sessions to finish it. I'm so sorry to see a part of your town's history be damaged beyond repair. Hold onto those memories and your pictures. We all love to remember when and tell stories.
You are so right Jerrilyn. We had Mum's 80th birthday lunch there and I've been there many times with Sue (my oldest friend here in NSW). I love the chair and am only using in short periods at the moment. I know you shouldn't sit for more than an hour in a chair anyway. Love Chris
It's sad to see our favorite places go, like old friends.
Your wreath is very pretty. I'm so glad that you are starting out slow, (NOT).
Take care of your bad self!
I'm getting there and the word is SLOWLY! he he he! I'm learning! Love Chris
What a shame that such a lovely place has to be demolished...good thing no one was hurt...lovely wreath!
Good morning Chris,
Sad to see something we enjoy disappear like that, hopefully they will rebuild.
The right chair is very important and working in small doses even more so for you right now. Take it easy my friend.
Wreath turned out very nicely,
big hug, have a great week,
Michelle
Thanks Michelle, yes, I'm pleased with the chair and you are right I'm only sitting in it for short periods. I'm sorry to see Milanos go too. Love Chris
Just where that third support is located, roughly where that pole in the water is, is where Sue and I would sit having lunch. It was very lucky that it collapsed today around 9.45am as the restaurant is closed on a Monday. Only a couple of people were there and they escaped. Love Chris
