I haven't crocheted for years, but thought that Nana should make some slippers. Here is my satisfied customer. I wanted to put some puffy paint dots on the bottom to make them unslippable, but he said no way. So, they make great slidey exercise slippers.

I can just see him smiling and sliding with them. If you want them to last a little longer and still being able to slide, sew a piece of material on the bottom that can be replaced once worn out.
Your slippers look great. I have never seen a stitch pattern like this in crochet.

New to me, too. You dbl around the post of the previous row's stitches instead of through the top part. That gets pulled to the back, and makes another layer. And the cuff is 2 (front double crochets) in each stitch, so it looks even bulkier.
