Is anyone of you the proud and lucky owner of the Husqvarna EPIC. It will be introduced in my country in March, at a price of €10 under 12K - I could buy a 16-needle Bravo for that amount of money.

What are the benefits (apart from what the website tells us). Is it just a lot more inbuilt designs and stitches and the greatly improved performance of the computer. I use my software for most of the things they have now built-in in the machine.

saw the EPIC today at my dealers. they ask for euro 11.999 and will have a presentation on April 30th - hope I can drive up to see it - my question is - does this machine run without permanant link to internet? or mobil (App)

It sells at € 11.990 here - which made me so curious. I still would like to see it in action, but a 2 1/2 hr drive (one way) is just a bit too much. I hope you can see it and admire :)

I saw the Epic in action yesterday & the show price was AUD12,999.
As a owner of a Diamond which is about 5yrs old I think,I would be quite happy to continue using it.The demonstrators said it was lighter ,the sewing area was larger for doing quilts, bobbin winding was different
The hoop sizes were still the same. The buttons for start ,stop, foot up & down etc, are laid out differently & better in my opinion.
Having all the software in the machine ,might be convenient but if you are like me hard drives & computers regularly play up,so I would be extremely unhappy if I couldn't use my machine because of it .
I agree with Mops ,a multi needle machine would be a better option for the price, sew & embroider at the same time

They have changed the size of the bobbin to a larger one! Sound nice but that means buying all new bobbins. Watched the video of it and it sounds great. Love the new touch screen which is very much like the new iphones. However, I agree that it is way too much money! They have always been an expensive machine. I love my designer diamond so it will have to be my last investment!

I see sewist gave you the poll - that group also noted some hardware issues (yes, at that price some have had significant problems with their machines). When I heard what the pricing was, I had the thought that I really need to just start saving for a multi-needle. My dealer had passed in her notice to quit as she doesn't want to be a computer person and I understand they're putting the computing in the machine (she's still there, so they came to some kind of arrangement). I don't like that as being in the computer industry, I know that most hardware flips over every five years or so (operating systems that only work with certain chips, at some point if you don't update your operating system, you can't get online ..yes, most home users can get machines to last longer, but not by much). I really don't want the computing built in.

I agree with you . I am wary of putting all that computing in the machine. I don't want a machine with Wifi. I don't want to download designs on to a machine connected to the internet - too much to go wrong.
I wouldn't be pleased having paid that amount to have bits falling off my machine or the noise a lot of them are talking about. Apparently the screw driver/tool was also shoddy and will all have to be replaced.
I would expect better quality in a machine which costs as much as a car.

Thanks for your input.
I bought my Designer1 in 1998 and gave that to my daughter when I bought the Ruby, as I loved the larger hoop. Both machine still work perfectly. No problems ever with either of them.
I really don't understand why a machine should cost as much as this new Epic. I certainly don't want Wifi on my machine. And I don't like the problems, noise, shoddy bits, you mentioned.
Same applies to the updates of the embroidery software - never saw so many complaints about an upgrade as the latest one, which is the most expensive one so far. I'm a member of the 6D Yahoo group and am appalled at all the questions and complaints that are a daily recurrence.

Mops - try their TruEmbroidery - didn't work for most right out of the gate -lots of ridiculous problems, fixed problems in the upgrade that costs $1100 USD. So many angry purchasers remain out there. So far, the new (and years later fixed original) are mostly working - but boy have they lost trust in the marketplace.

I recently attended a Jenny Haskins event where the Epic was the machine used by attendees for all the projects. I was completely underwhelmed by the machine. Multiple screens were required to accomplish what I can do with my Quattro up front. I saw no advantage to this machine other than yet another larger hoop. For the money I'll stick with my Quattro.

No Martine, I haven't seen it as yet in the flesh so to speak. I just had a look at the Husqvarna web page and it looks great. I'm not looking to buy another sewing machine as I have the Brother Quattro and two machines do me well. I do prefer the Husqvarna over the Brother though! The price here in Australia is also very high. Love Chris

My dealer has an introduction day on March the 5th and another one I have frequented in the past on the 18th. Both send me invitations and have specials on accessories for all models. I would love to see the Epic in action, but as I am not the intention to spend that much money I think I won't travel to see it - just in case I might be tempted to buy more than a few new feet...

I'm only very curious, love my designer diamond to much.

Here is your opportunity to let Viking know what top three features you'd like to see added to the Epic in a future update! Please only vote for your top three choices. This doesn't mean we won't see more of these features added back to the Epic at some time, but this is to help our wonderful machine developers prioritize what you, the customer, hold as the most valuable or important features to add to our wonderful Epic machines. We are very glad that Viking is willing to listen to our feedback. I will keep the poll open for about 10 days, and close it the evening of 1/17/16. I will send the results to Viking. Whether you have an Epic, or are considering purchasing the Epic, lease take this opportunity to make your voice heard and vote!

Thank you.
Apparently those features are missing in the Epic now, some of which are present in the Ruby.

sewist1 by sewist1 21 Feb 2016

Yes I find the Epic underwhelming especially for the price they are charging here in Aus.

Purchased a new HV Designer Ruby Royal this past summer during a half price promotion with trade-in. Would not otherwise have purchased it. Definitely would not purchase a combination home machine at $15,000 when multi-needle, single-head commercial machines are available at around $10,000.

The machines are now being priced out of the reach of the average person at $15,000. You will need a mortgage to buy one!
