I was contacted today to say my embroidery machine is ready for collection. When I asked what the problem was, I was told that they could not find anything wrong. How can that be??

My serviceman does a test piece on the machine before giving it back to me and leaves it on the machine. Sometimes he does it in front of me. He had a ball doing a test sew on my embroidery machine once. It was so funny watching him.
I agree with the others. Check thoroughly before taking it. I too live over an hour away, by freeway, from my service man and his is in the same city.. I refuse to use the guys closer to me as they do a very bad job or they don't talk to the "little woman".
Sometimes the 'trip in the car' shakes lose whatever is causing the problem & vice versa. So give your baby a couple of hours to settle before doing any sewing at home.

It took a year and when my contract was up and the machine was still not working. I called Brother International. the machine was picked up by Fed ex and after negotiating with the manager of the store and the Rep at Brother the machine was fixed and back to me and the bill was paid by the owner of the dealer. Never again - I will send all my machines to the repair store by mail!

I'm sure you will have a lengthy conversation with them about this. I agree to test it there. I travel an hour away to another state to my dealer. Have to say they are the best. I make an appt with them, and the machine is worked on right then, I either wait or go shopping and they call me.
When my warranty ran out, I had the option to send my Ellegante to Babylock for a thorough going over. Well, when I got it back, and home, it was doing really weird things. So she and I went back to the dealer, where I spent all day with the tech as he tried different things, talked to Babylock, and finally decided that it was the emb unit. I left with one from the shop(rather than sending mine out), and have not had a problem since. I sat there and used various machines so it was a day not without fun.

Seems very odd to me....make sure you test, test, test at the shop before you pay and pick it up...I would try stitching the same design that was giving you a problem...and then pick another one...

I had the same thing happen to me. Test it at the shop and again as soon as you get home. Sometimes the technicians don't seem to be in tune with our machines like we are. We spend hours with our machines and technicians probably only half an hour at best. I know each of my machines hum a different tune as they sew and I can tell when one is not quite right.

When this happened to me I insisted on testing it at the shop as I live an hour away. They seemed annoyed that I didn't believe them when they had told me it just needed oiling! I had a needle shatter inside the machine and the hook and bobbin case were making a grating sound. It worked fine at the shop. They smirked at me, requested payment and I left. As soon as I got home the problem was back! I ended up having to fix it myself as they didn't believe me when I called to say it was still not fixed. When I checked the bobbin case it had been drenched in so much oil the embroidery thread was dripping in oil and had to be thrown out. The hook had burr on it that needing sanding off. I had even told the shop I thought this was the issue. I have not been back there since and no longer refer anyone there either.
Please test your machine and maybe politely ask them if you can do it without them chatting to you so as not to distract you.

Hopefully that is good news, I think I would go to the shop yourself Sarah, i would test it before leaving, with what you were doing when it decided to go nuts, you never know. Sandra

Thank you Jerrilyn. I was actually going to get a friend to pick it up as she has to go to the airport. I am now thinking that I should perhaps fetch it myself.

Be sure to have them plug it in and you run it while there to be sure it is OK. I hope it truly is OK and you will be back to stitching.
