Love Orange Marmalade. I eat it with blueberry bagel and cream cheese. I have made Strawberry Jam, Blackberry Jam, Apple butter and once I made persimmon butter. My son made a yummy Apple butter in his crockpot and canned it.
What clever gals you all are. I've never made jam - my Nanna and Mum used to make it all the time. I'm not a lover of bitter chunky Orange Marmalade, but do rather like the Roses Lime Marmalade which I believe is British!
Jean, do you make your jam on the stove or in the microwave? Can you please give us the recipe for yours? Love Chris
Hi Chris, what recipe would you like, jam or marmalade, I make my on the stove, never tried it in the microwave. I don't like chunky marmalade either. Jean xx
Love marmalade, Orange only. Have always wanted to make some but never have. Might now that I see yours.
Yes you must try it, 1 kilo of oranges (any ones) quartered, then put in the blender, if you like"big worms" like sue, slice some of the rind, 1 kilo granulated sugar, put in a large saucepan, bring to boil & cook for 20 minutes, Jean xx
A good endorsement for your cooking skills, you were lucky he left you 5. Marian
we love marmalade too. 3 fruit [1 sweet orange,1 grapefruit and 2 lemons. 3 pints water and 3 lbs of sugar] but I have made it with just oranges and lemons, nice as well.
I like the sound of the mix of fruits. Can you make it with a sugar substitute, am Diabetic.
That sounds really nice, isn't funny how our recipes differ, I didn't use any water in mine, Jean xx
Looks yummy! It's hard to get Seville oranges here, they have to be ordered when they are in season, but fortunately likes the marmelade from sweet oranges as well. When we lived in England I cheated and bought tins of Mamade :).
Seville oranges are a short season, I think Jan/Feb I used sweet ones, yes I remember the tins of marmalade, Jean xx
Yummmmm! I imagine that won't last long. The last time I made marmalade I had to make one rind free for a few people I know that won't eat it with rind in. It was more like an orange jam.
Hmmmmm good. Haven't made marmalade for a long time.
