Hi Cuties, I've been off the grid for quite a while. Firstly of course due to having surgery and secondly we have had no phone or internet for 4 days. NBN "The National Broadband Network is an upgrade to Australia's existing telecommunications infrastructure. Rolls and rolls of lovely fibre-optic cable are being installed all over the country. The NBN's fibre-optic cables will better suit the Australian environment, as data speeds over this type of cable are not affected by rain and extreme heat the way existing copper lines are. This is great news for Australians." It was easier to copy what it is all about from the internet!

Anyway, I've been home 2 weeks now and whilst I could sit I did a few of these squares. It was a very time consuming project, but it's turned out great. I was going to make these for all of my ladies for my Christmas luncheon, but will do something else. This will be MINE!!

This design comes from an Australian company called Sweet Pea - this particular runner was all done in a 4x4 hoop but can go up to a 6x6. It costs $15.00 AUD - she has many other designs as well. I think if I do this again I'll use a plain white - I've used a white Broderie Anglaise here and the stitches don't show up as well as I would have liked - I will use a darker thread for the holly leaf design as it doesn't show on the white. I purposely put a green thread around the centre Holly piece and gold thread on the others. I love the effect of the up/ down of the Holly leaves too. I actually had Holly fabric for the green side sections too. It is about 2 feet long and 12 inches wide. Sorry I clipped off the right hand side. Hope everyone is having a great day of sewing. It's a beautiful Autumnal (Fall) day here.

Thanks for looking. Love Chris, Newcastle, Australia

Thanks Loralye. Your son in law has a great job I'm sure, but when the telecommunications don't work, gee it stuffs up so many people's livelihoods. Australia has a long way ahead to get them to every place! Love Chris

Oh! this is stunning. great job.

We have to have a satellite ( like Kerry) dish for our internet, 'cause we're so far out in the country. On the plus side, the dish and connection is free, just have to pay for the usage of course.

It's lovely Chris...those 4 sections just pop at you.
NBN....don't talk to me about that.....
It is in my area, but because we are in a gully we miss it altogether..
Goes all around me..because of the hills then.
Anyway they say we might get it one day this year.
I am on satellite..very old phone lines here and cannot get it through telstra..But at least I am on the net....not complaining.
love Kerry

Lovely table runner. Looks so pretty with the Broderie Anglaise.
Sure hope when they start the roll out for the NBA here we don't loose phone and Internet for days. Or was it just Telstra for you? They seem to be going down regularly.

Hi Chris,.
good to hear that you're back home and you feel better.
Your table runner has become great. I know Sweet Pea and love her designs. I'm just about to make the rabbit table runner. Unfortunately I no longer make it to Easter, because our daughter with the grandchild is coming tomorrow and since the embroidery and sewing machine must stand still. I wish you Happy Easter.
Hugs, Angelika

Gorgeous, Chris...glad to hear you are feeling better...take it a day at a time and try not to overdo! Love the ITH quilted blocks...was the back embroidered/quilted through or added later after the blocks were joined...

pennifold by pennifold 23 Mar 2016

Hi Kim, no the back is just a plain piece of fabric. I used the green holly fabric for the backing. Love Chris

dragonflyer by dragonflyer 25 Mar 2016

Thanks, Chris...I was wondering if the blocks were done sandwiched ITH and then joined together...still looking for that perfect joining for ITH blocks...

Wow, Chris this is stunning.......BTW, how do you feel since the back surgery? Has the pain subsided for you? Would you recommend the procedure?

pennifold by pennifold 23 Mar 2016

Hi Vicki, well I've not had back surgery. I've had the right Bursa removed from where the Gluteus Minimus is situated at the top of my right thigh - it's called a Trochanteric Bursitis. And yes, I'd recommend it as it's stopped that constant horrendous stabbing sensation which was stopping me from being able to sit down. I'm still on some low doses of pain killers and walking a lot. If I do have to have back surgery, they say it would be done by key-hole, take about an hour and leave a minimal scar. The one I've had has left me with a 4 inch scar, which will fade eventually. Love Chris
