our granddaughter has an upcoming concert for dance & her costume was way to big & plain so she asked me what I could do to alter it & give it some bling. For 2 weeks I worked on adding the sequins to the bodice & when she came the week before Easter she tried it on & I had forgotten to take in the bodice so I had her take it home & remove 1.5" of the sequins. She brought it back with her over the Easter weekend & I was able to finish the top. Both her & her mom are much happier with the finishing touches. I took it in the back 1.5 inches & made a bow pleat on the front & now it fits her without revealing her front when she dances first picture is a side view (not showing the front since it shows too much) I hope that you can see the large droop under her arm which gives you an idea of how much of a droop was in the front. 2cd picture shows the improvements I made & if you zoom in you will see the bow pleat which is a really pretty way to take it in. I maybe should have thought of putting darts in but my first thought was adding the bling. Hopefully I won't have to do this again but if I do I hope I remember to make the alterations BEFORE I add the bling lol. She does such a graceful & delicate dance I wanted that to be the focus when she does her solo.

Both are beautiful. She looks quite athletic and gorgeous! I remember my mom used to love making my dance and prom dresses and I loved them! What a grammie you are!

Beautiful girl, has the look of a ballerina. Great job on the dress. We once glued sequins on two ball gowns, I used to know the number but it was in the thousands! It didn't photograph well but the video made it just sparkle under the lights. Made it worth the headache-lol

Wonderful job! I am sure she was pleased. She has a very mature body for her young age. I have one granddaughter that will not wear any thing with a cut out neckline because she is so thin. My other granddaughter could care less. Oh my to be that age again!! Kay

lol we all come in different shapes & sizes & change throughout the years.........the young want to be older & the old want to be young again. I wonder if we could combine the 2 how are lives would have changed. the knowledge we have now with the figure we had then lol what a combination!

as a matter of fact she told the moms who were trying to fix this that her Nana could fix it for her & make it "pretty" They were relieved to hand it over lol I am just thankful they didn't ask me to do any others. It is a 3 hour show so many dancers. I have helped in the past when they lived closer & one of the moms remembered me.

Did you sew all the Sequins on one by one? If so gosh what a lot of work. Her costume looks wonderful and just the right amount of movement for dance. Well done.
