Perfect Toogie--you are very quick on your projects and yes, late notices often. Your embroidery is very delicate and beautiful. Wondering if you've stitched the lace on with serger or zigzag--looks like serger but not sure.
The lace is zigzagged on. No entredeux here or wing needle stitching , no time ! Thank you Patti for looking
That's gorgeous, delicate fabric, colour and embroidery, love it!
Hugs, Lidia
It's lovely. Only you know what you "didn't get done".
How beautiful.... dainty and feminine for a sweet new baby girl. Your daughter will have a beautiful hand-crafted gift for her friend. You do gorgeous work.
Thank you Sharon. My daughter and their friends met at a restaurant last night. They told the lady it was just a get together dinner, with the 'girls'. She was totally surprised and thankful for all the pretty gifts.
My daughter said all the women ou-ed and aw-ed about the little day gown. Since it was in Holly's favorite color, she was so happy, my daughter said she had tears. Made me feel good to get the reviews-lol
Terrific job Toogie and yes I also get those last min requests. None lately though they know better. Lol/Lillian
Yes, I know and they do too, sewing is not what you have time for these days. Thinking of you always, Toogie...oh and thank you
Also, I wanted to ask. What is the largest size pillowcase dress you send for your charity work?
Toogie the little gown is so beautiful your work it excellent, what a wonderful mum your are
Thank you for your comments. She gave it to the woman last night and she said she nearly cried with joy. It made my daughter very happy she liked it so much.
very nice Toogie, so delicate. Sometimes the older fabrics in our cupboards are of better quality than the newly purchased.
I know and I looked for the price of it now and the price has nearly doubled! Thanks-Toogie
What a lovely little dress, pretty enough to be used for a christening. Love seeing baby girls all dressed up. Maybe you could make the bonnet for a little gift after the baby is born. (I know you don't need any suggestions for more to do!!!)
lol- I won't tell my daughter you said that!-All jokes aside, I did offer to come back today and 'try' to get a bonnet made. Baby dedication at church is Mother's day. If I find out she may use this, I will definitely make a bonnet!
When one of my daughter's closest friends was expecting her first baby, I was so honored and excited when she asked me to make her christening gown. My mind was having constant images racing though, of gowns full of entrudeau lace, ruffles, embroidery, etc. My daughter put a halt to my beautiful mind slideshow when she said," Mom, you know Jen. She doesn't like all the frills and laces."
I was so disappointed!
She did let me put pinstitching and pinstitch I did! She allowed very little lace. I hand embroidered the crosses. Jen was very pleased and although it wasn't what I pictured, I was very pleased when I heard the priest asked if it was a family heirloom, passed down. She has used it for all her children ....and it had a bonnet!!!!-lol
Ooh! Toogie, this is just absolutely perfectly gorgeous. Along with a lot of others on here I too love Purple and any shades thereof. You just have to ask any of our grands what's Nanna's favourite colour and they all know! I love the fabric also, can you please tell me what it is? I love this design too, you are so good to make all of these things especially with everything going on. Well done, love Chris
I have to sew/create or go insane!-lol-
This is a good quality batiste. I've had it a while, in my fabric drawers, but I like to keep pastel colors on hand. I knew you, among others here like purples. I have to admit, although it's not my favorite color, it does make up well here, so I am pleased. Hopefully they will be too. Ashley should be here soon to pick it up. Hope you are better-Toogie
Thanks for all the information about the fabric Toogie it is just beautiful. I'm getting better, just a sore bum muscle he he he! I'm only taking Panadol for discomfort, so I'm pleased with that. Starting Pilates the first week of May! At least I can now sit down and drive. I'm taking Mum to Morpeth tomorrow - it's a little township outside of Maitland known for its Antique shops etc. It is a heritage township and we usually spend a couple of hours up there. I love all the old hand made toffees, jams, beautiful Teapots, cordials and some lovely dress shops too!!!! There is also a magnificent nursery near Ashtonfield with heritage plants etc. Can't wait - I haven't been up there for a couple of years. Love Chris
Hope you both have a nice day there. Sadly, my flowers will be non-attended this year.
This is beautiful! Yes, my family gives me last minute requests, but when I'm as busy as you are, they get a store-bought blanket or burp cloth from my stash with a monogram or design on it. You are a good mama!!
No better than most mama's. ..Oh, did I forget to mention....she did bring me a bought blanket to put a name on for FRIDAY....Today is Tuesday and she still hasn't given me the name/spelling!!!!!! - I have to tell you this-
She said this woman, whose baby this little dress is for, is a close friend of the family. She has two boys and when found out this last one is to be a girl, the friend was ecstatic!
Well, one of the family told all the girls FRIDAY, that she was giving so&so an informal little shower TUESDAY night. My daughter felt panicked to have to go shopping with a newborn that nurses, etc. etc etc. and choose a gift last minute!
While Supermom (me) had a wake Saturday and a funeral Sunday evening, after church Sunday morning, with therapy Monday & Tuesday morning I should be able to get it done for Tuesday night. I'm not suppose to panic-lol
LOL - you did a beautiful job coming to her rescue. I've a few times gotten the name at the last minute and then told later they changed their minds on the spelling!! Lilly became Lily - after I stitched it; Mary Faith, an adopted"baby" actually was a two year old - AFTER I made a burp cloth. They've learned they better get it right. THere's only so many mis-stitches that sell at the consignment shop. HaHa
This is so beautiful and very delicate - lovely!!
Toogie, You are so talented. It looks beautiful simply breathtaking. I am sure that the friends of your daughter will be thrilled about this adorable present . I like it soooooo much.
Hugs, Angelika
Thanks Angelika. This is the first time I think I have used this color for a newborn, but I think it looks so delicate, I will use it again.
