My beloved Charles was a donor and I think of the impact of it often. I am a donor. My dear Brownie Scout lifelong friend received a kidney from her niece on my friend's birthday (hospital availabililty). The aunt and her niece went out every year on the birthday to celebrate another year of the health of the kidney! She gained 10 extra years of life and died of something else!
I'm alive because someone donated her kidney! Please consider organ donation upon a loved one's death. So many die each year because there are not enough donations. I'm truly blessed! --Sandra, healthy and happy
wow neat story... Yes organ donors are needed,, More people should be aware.. Thanks
Interesting Meg but have not heard this. Organ donors are sorely needed all over the world. Thank goodness for those who are willing/Lillian
I'm glad the outcome was far more generous than the beginning of this story. And I agree that organ donation is very important
I guess that is bringing home the point. It takes so little to sign up as a donor. The other important thing is to discuss the wish to donate with the family. In mine we had 2 issues with kidney failures and consequently transplants and we were lucky that family members were willing and compatible donors. The need is so great.
I do hope your family recipient continues in good health.
I have a young friend who is only alive thanks to organ donors and it really does make one realise how great is the need. Thanks for replying Angie.
hugs n roses, Meganne
They are doing great. 15 years for my son and about 6 years for my granddaughter. She was in high school when they diagnosed kidney failure
